Teacher with Facebook gun photo remains on leave

It seems to me that they would be defending the 1st amendment, here, rather than the 2nd.

Thinking about it, I would agree to some extent. It is a lot about the 1st Amendment, but there is some of the 2nd mixed in.

This is purely my feeling and assumption of the person(s) who saw fault in the picture:

It seems that such people are so insecure as to suggest a minor character flaw or even phobia. To look at the picture and feel so strongly that the gun is pointed at you, that the teacher is posing a real threat to your actual person, to me is beyond reason.

I find it incredibly difficult to respect the opinion of someone who takes issue with the picture because I can't find a healthy fear or concern in that objection.

I would agree. In fact, what kind of precedence does this set? Should all teachers who own a firearm be suspended? Aren't our schools short enough of good teachers?

...where's the problem again?

I wonder if the picture was of her and "spot" ,in the field, waiting for an unwise phesant to jump... would there have been the antigun knee jerk she got from the more provocative photo shown? :spin: I know I`m going to get my clock cleaned for even asking, so have at it.

This is a tricky situation. The only thing I can say is that this woman is incredibly stupid. What she did was miles away from p.c. and people that are not careful, well thats what they get.

Only if we let the tinyminded and frightful continue to vote.

BRING ON THE PURGE !!

Voter Registrations should be embossed on the grip of a handgun.

Kill the Weak !! Vote afterwards !!

This is a joke, right?

Firstly, I am not sure she meant to challenge the whole state of things. Secondly, I do feel that it is a violent and threatening picture. I feel if she wanted to do something like that she might have taken a picture of herself with hunting clothes on and the rifle by her side (and maybe not that kind of particular rifle either). Like it or not, there are codes of ethics that people must follow in order to have a civilized society. This picture is far from civil. Who is she hunting here? Birds or Me? You guys way too liberal, if I was a lawyer I wouldn't even take this case on.

I`m guessing she`s holding a shotgun, a typical hunting weapon, but in a pose where the viewer is looking down the barrel, I think you are correct...bad context, or the content suggesting context. I always felt a little more intimidated when looking at a gun from that end.

Bullets don't travel through the internet though.

I agree, but sometimes the mental image picture is worth a thousand words, and in this special interest world,"ya gotta watch what you say". The gun grab folks could see the tip of the point they thought she was trying to make. I want this teacher on my side in a gun fight. I am also a big fan of the "second". I hope she prevails , there is a great deal at stake. Someone mentioned the first amendment..., There is a great deal at stake...I HOPE SHE PREVAILS.

People who live willingly in a PC world, Hide behind PC, and use PC as a weapon, do more harm to any true growth of morality and positive social values than do all the honest masses combined. You can`t legislate everything under the sun. So anyway , she did set herself up as you stated, by crossing the PC line.

There is nothing violent or threatening about that photo. Only the dull-witted or lazy would even think that.

Moon...the bullet comes out that end, and she`s pointing the gun at people, who are looking at the photo,( dogs n goats n earth werms ain`t lookin at the photo). She`s a complete idiot, and the people who might be offended by her pose, voted NAY,..."the photo is suggestive". Put your emotions away, and understand she screwed up. Nothin dull-witted about it septens her. If she gets off, I think she should post a pic of her and Spot hunting critters... no more pics of her pointing guns at the only liveings things on earth that see it as a gun with thingies that come out that end. Moon ,trust me....BTW, WTF does lazy have to do with it ?

 is my avatar threatening to you?

Mostly 1st, a little 2nd.

I went and read there statment. I now agree. this state ACLU did in fact mention that there is no need to feel threatened by the picture.

a little 2nd as well...... The national ACLU would not touch this.

Because of this thing that many liberals hate(and sometimes try to blatantly misinterpret to support their anti-2nd amendment stand) called he 2nd amendment, she has a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Combined with the first amendment she is free to have someone take pictures of her bearing arms and post them on the internet. The school, especially a tax payer funded has absolutely no business trying to force any anti-2nd amendment view on it's students and staff.Seeing how one of the things our schools should teach is the constitution it shouldn't even have a anti-2nd amendment view period.

The idea of the ACLU in general with their anti-2nds amendment stand actually defending 2nd amendment rights is laughable. If this happened in Nevada then it could said the ACLU there is keeping its word.

This is a provocative picture, It didn`t pass PC muster. Of all pictures of guns,on a scale from one to ten, ten being the most provocative pose, she scored a perfect ten. I love guns just because I can kill anyone that might kill me. The cops are a no-show...my 12 guage won a ball bat fight one night,(without fireing a shot...). The cops did come...what...about an hour and a half later. Looking at the gun from that end,a real gun, or a photo, gives the same message to humans. The "gun grab lobby" and the "protect the children in excess lobby" didn`t like the pose, at all. They are both wrong but they had the first vote, and right to persecute.

She was not wrong, at all. The last time I looked the law and our Constitution said nothing about a picture with a gun being terms for termination.

The only thing wrong here is the PC police trying to enforce something that is not enforceable.

You are absolutely correct. The PC police will fail in the end, but they got their headlines none the less. With enforcement units out there like the PC Police we gun owners and enthusiats need to beware. Thank you for taking the sharp edges of my post... she was NOT legaly wrong in any way. Both her freedom of expression and her right to keep and bear arms, must be aggressively defended here.

I think a picture tells a thousand words. Underneath the image of her asserting violence to cover up her ignorance and displaying to us that we couldn't do anything civil to help her see it another way (in other words snarkly rubbing these things in our face), I see a person that is somewhat sinister, sad and lonely, who is looking for attention and should be looking for it in more of a productive way than this. Whether it is legal or not legal, I don't think that this is a good message to send our kids. The people here who are defending her solely on her rights do not see that morality figures into everything that goes on in the world. If it didn't, why would persuasion be such an important thing in the courtroom, where afterall these laws are made?

This has absolutely nothing to do with morality, hers or anyone else's. It has everything to do with the smell of bull**it in the air.

This is nothing but an attack on freedom of speech and the "anti-gun" crowed is leading the charge and again screaming "it's for the children!."

Abortion is a moral issue, the death penalty is a moral issue. A picture of someone on face-book holding a gun has nothing to do with morality. Although it does seem to be an issue championed by morons.
