Like I stated, his bailing is not the issue, It was the manner in which it was introduced, and the image issue it presents.

The fact that such a trivial matter is getting play by posters on all sides confirms its legitimacy that image is an important matter for a President.

I sir, have out non-partisaned you on this.

    2. You may have done the same thing (I don't necessarily believe you), but I wasn't addressing you...I was addressing American, who ISN'T doing the same thing.

Re: On a tough day, Obama escapes for a while

Right, my issue is some people in this thread seem to not be consistant. First they say that IMAGE is what is important. Than an example of a President they support is doing something similar, or arguably worse, than this current example and suddenly they flip flop, not talking about IMAGE but talking about how whether or not it actually affected anything is important.

So why is it, for example, with Obama IMAGE is important but with Bush it was the affect it had on things?

If you think Obama had bad judgement for telling 7 year old kids asking why he's here that "He felt like getting out of the white house" do you think its also bad judgement for Bush to remain talking to a grade school class for 30 minutes while 9/11 was happening. Both opened up chances for people to rip them on their IMAGE.

If you think that Bush sitting at the grade school for 30 minutes while 9/11 was happening didn't have any actual affect on things and thus it was okay, do you think Obama spending a few hours at the grade school have any actual affect on picking a replacement for Rohm?

Its a bogus double standard presented on many in this thread, showing that while they may care about IMAGE or they may care about practicality, they care most about simply protecting "thier guys".

In the grand scope of things, I think Bush staying with the grade schoolers could be arguably worse than this thing with Obama...and even that I have stated numerous times on this forum was a fine and understandable thing to do and a worthless, crappy, low thing to get on Bush about. I also think going after Obama for taking a few hours away and jokingly telling some 7 year old kids that he wanted to get out o the White House for a bit is also rather worthless and crappy. I don't think EITHER hurt their image to a point that I find was legitimate enough that I'd had demanded they done it differently, and I don't think EITHER showed bad judgement.

Are you going to bring bush up in every thread?

Yeah he said it was hard work, but did he cut and run because the going got tough?

there is the difference. If Bush said, yes this is hard work and I need to get away for a while, especially in the first 2 weeks of his presidency I would be all over it.

Oh it was horrible for his image. However there are procedures in place when something like this happens. There was not much he could do while they put a planned operation in place to protect POTUS...

That said, you can see how that image affected him. People are still talking about it today.....

The difference is, there was little choice for him while wheels had to be put in motion.

And Zyph, 30 mins? Come now, I thought it was like 7 and he really wasn't talking to them anymore.

    See above.

Have you notice I am not really on Obama for this other than to say it was a poor choice. I won't spend the next 4 years (or God forbid) the next 8 talking about it. It was a mistake, and I am sure his handlers are on it.

It does however make for an interesting political discussion.
