Obama Blames himself for mishandling Daschle

Re: Obama: 'i Screwed Up'

I can't see it here, but I'm sure it's some cluged together BS. Hahaha

That's an apt description of a Bush press conference. :rofl

Re: Obama: 'i Screwed Up'

WOOOOT!!
Go Americans!! Give 'em what for!!

I hope we crash some servers with our traffic too while we're at it ;)
Your ears must be full of wax. Bush admitted to plenty of mistakes on several occasions.
Eventually
Is this thread about Obama or Bush?
I don't think it has to be a mutually exclusive situation. The thread could be about BOTH Bush and Obama.
From the OP:
Wow....what a refreshing change of pace. We went from a President who wouldn't accept responsibility for anything and would never admit he made a mistake....to a President who actually admits he screwed up.
AFAICT, it seems to be a thread about a comparison between W and O. Obviously, YMMV.

Talk about Rose-Colored Glasses. You're simply seeing what you want to see. Bush took plenty of responsibility for errors:

The problem both Presidents have is that they are simply posturing. With responsibility comes accountability - it's a completely empty gesture to step forward and take responsibility and then not to atone for the errors committed.

Dasshole was the one who was wrong. Qbamma was simply whining as a cover for some other sin he was commiting under the cover of Dasshole. None of these jerks we vote in, are looking out for anything beyond thier extended family,"other politicians". WE are in deep s**t . The economy is accelerateing toward hell, and all Barry can do is look for the next liberal criminal to help finish things off. This creep of a POTUS has advisors much like GWB had advisors as he lined his buddies pockets with untold wealth. When we stop electing money whores who knows how great life will be for us all.

Do you promote socialism?

Do you promote socialism?

No ,I like the concept of fair trade ,not the realty of socialist globalism. GWB had a great opportunity to avert this economic collapse and he squandered it on big oil profitiering. Argueably the worst economic time in American history, GWB earned his 8% approval rateing at the time he departed the office of POTUS money whore Socialism is a worse nightmare but haveing to fund all businesses is socialism. Who started that trend and who is continueing it ? Right and Left are all wrong.

This ISN'T the worst economic time in American history, not even close. It was worse when Reagan took office, and still worse during the Great Depression. Let's not lose grip here.

I was employeed under Regan and people got to keep their homes and businesses. If these aren`t the worst economic times in American history give it a few more days...weeks? When was that change supposed to come? I do still have a very tenuous grip.

The numbers were worse when Reagan started, half the growth and double-digit inflation and unemployment.

Capitalism promotes money whoring.

RightinNYC asked earlier if there is anyone at all impressed by Obama accepting blame for this. And I saw several posters essentially responding that they were impressed suggesting that Obama's acknowledgment of a mistake is refreshing, responsible, etc.

NONSENSE!!

Just the day before saying that he "screwed up", Obama was "absolutely" committed to Daschle. Obama was "absolutely" committed to Daschle knowing that Daschle had this tax problem. One day he’s totally committed to something, and the very next day he “screwed up”? That's nonsense.

The WaPo had this stunning account:
Officials said yesterday that myriad tax questions had been posed to Daschle, Killefer, and Geithner. But the problems were largely dismissed as less important than the nominees' qualifications for the major tasks they were expected to confront in office, the officials said.

One person familiar with the appointment process said Obama and his top advisers were concerned about the possibility of political "combustion" occurring over the tax issues. "People were not unaware that might happen," the official said. But they believed that Geithner and Daschle were uniquely qualified.

The Obama team knew about these matters but hid them from public view; it was, the congressional investigation that brought these things to light. A President and administration that was genuinely committed to transparency and a "new politics" would not hide such matters from the public. Obama is simply spinning and doing a bad job of it, too. That's not accepting responsibility, it's another cop-out after getting caught. And some of you are lapping it up like the good little lap-dogs that you are.

Does anyone recall VP candidate Biden telling us that those who don't want to pay higher taxes are not fulfilling their patriotic duty?

With Solis we're up to what, 4 or 5 nominees who didn't pay the taxes that they owed?

Pathetic.

Did you think it was problematic when Bush appointed people to positions who had lobbied for the industry they would be now regulating? I hope so, NYU.

Here's one example:

Whistleblower Reveals Bush Administration Altered Climate Change Reports - Environmental Right to Know - OMB Watch

In many ways, yes.

First off, let me say that I'm truly not opposed to the idea of lobbyists working in government. Being a lobbyist doesn't mean that someone is evil, it simply means that they have a lot of experience in a field.

Do I think the fact that that guy lobbied for oil companies before working in that climate office and that Daschle worked for health care companies before trying to go to HHS means that they shouldn't have those jobs? No. Does it mean that they're less appealing as candidates than they would otherwise be? Yes. Even setting aside the possibility of actual bias, the social costs of having a large portion of the population perceive someone as being biased/corrupt is such that it makes it a bad idea in many cases.

This is pretty impressive. Every single sentence contains a glaring error.

Your ears must be full of wax. Bush admitted to plenty of mistakes on several occasions. Just because you don't want to believe he did, because of your mouthfoaming, doesn't mean he didn't.

How did you get mouthfoaming from my simple post? :2razz:

This seems to be your favorite, and constant expression. Could you provide a definition of "money whoring"?

It's Rodney's expression not mine. But when you get down to it, we all prostitute ourselves for money. We just may not use our bodies in a sexual way.
