My Way News - GOP leaders doubt stimulus bill will pass Senate

"I think it may be time ... for the president to kind of get a hold of these Democrats in the Senate and the House, who have rather significant majorities, and shake them a little bit and say, 'Look, let's do this the right way,'" McConnell said. "I can't believe that the president isn't embarrassed about the products that have been produced so far."

I think Obama is embarrassed by the way princess pelosi has acted here.

This is a good thing if this does not pass, as it is no stimulus package, but a spending liberal wish list package.

Agree here, this thing is an utter mess and I'll be extremely happy if it flames out in the Senate

No one believes another tax cut for the wealthy will stimulate the economy, but Republicans will not support a stimulus without it. They feel they cannot lose...if the American economy falls into a depression because of their inaction, it will be the Democratic administration that takes the blame.

It amazes me how Republicans are so sure of the correct action to take....when they are out of office. For eight years they did nothing but screw things up, but now we should trust them to know what to do. Fat chance.

Actually a lot of people do believe that.

Well that is the question. After all the "depression" started during a Republican president. In fact there is growing evidence that the downturn started already in middle of 2007 but if you remember the Republicans at the time and far far into the presidential election, claimed the economy was great. Does not exactly show a great sense of reality or the situation at hand.

The question is how long a memory the American people have and how good the Dems are in remind the American people on who got them into this mess.

All I see now is the Republican's playing the classic game of being against everything and not willing to actually come up with a plan to save the US economy from the mess they (and others of course) created. The only thing they are willing to come up with is "tax cuts".. which is insane unless there are deep deep cuts in spending, including military, but no Republican will go that far, and any cuts in Government spending will not help the economic situation.

Here's a crying towel, aren't you glad you're on the receiving end of your own medicine? Enjoy.

I think there are some good ideas in the package, but there is unnecessary spending (based on what I have read/heard), and I want the unnecessary stuff OUT.

There you go again; the tired old Liberal claim that the tax cuts were only directed at the wealthy.

It is almost as lame as the argument that by increasing the costs of capital and taxes on the wealthy and corporations and taking that money and giving to those who donít pay taxes is a way to generate economic activity and lead us all to prosperity.

Carry on; you seldom bring anything LOGICAL or FACTUAL to the table.

One thing we can always count on; Liberals making outrageously false statements in order to support their efforts to rob Paul to pay Mary and inanely believing that this leads to prosperity.

Obama's and the Democrats plan resembles the same policies third world countries have tried for decades only to find out that high unemployment and inflation as the result of PRINTING money do not work.

Pete, do me a BIG favor; show me with credible evidence where a Nation's Government has borrowed and spent it's way out of a recession. While you are at it, also support the inane claim that we are in a depression.
