US Army suicides hit record high

No. He was given a suspended sentence, on the condition that he join some branch of the military.
Which branch was not specified.

Wait, I thought they stopped doing that like years ago...

And let me get this straight, he did not want to go, had a choice of wich branch and chose the army?

Further more if you have a conviction you need a waiver just to get in.

Was it a felony?

something is fishy in your story.....

something is fishy in your story.....

It's true and verifiable.
I can prove it, but I'd have to tell you his identifying information, and I won't do that.
If proof is needed, I'll tell the Cap'n, or someone else I trust, and they can verify it.

Why if he "did not want to go" choose the army?

Because the alternative was going to jail.
It is exactly as I've stated.
And yes, apparently it happens fairly routinely.
I will not post further details of his situation on the public board; most of my forum friends are already aware of the situation, as it's something I've been dealing with since mid-December.

As I've stated, if proof is needed, I will give his personal information to the Cap'n or someone I can trust, and they can verify it for you.

Repeating over and over that it sounds fishy is pointless.
It happened. It's happening now. I can prove it.

I asked three questions that do not address identity at all.

You made a claim, I am trying to understand it.

i wont mention "fishy" so you can focus.

I feel for you and your son. When are military recruiters are shrewder than car dealers you get problems. Hey all least the good reverend hasn't straight up called bullship on your story. Guess that habit died. And good wishes upon ya familiy.

I've seen a news report similar to this... I can't find the link at the moment, but not so long ago, an army recruiter was caught threatening recruits that if they did NOT sign up with the military that they would have a warrant made out for their arrest and would be sent to jail. He was caught through a tape recording, and the offender received a PROMOTION.

Probably part of 'Obamas' plan to bring about conscription of all 18-25 year olds.

I am sorry to hear of this happeneing to your son,

Thank you.
I could care less if he does think it's bull****.
I wish it were.

omg that is so made up....

promoted for lying... please link it or it never happened.

man the stories that get spun when it comes to the military around here.

My son just joined the army.
He didn't want to.
He was given a choice between that, or something worse.

This is upsetting for me to hear.

Looking on the positive side he may well end up a better person from an experience in the Army, opposed to an experience behind bars.

Paul.

Sorry i need something more than the propaganda machine DN.

anything coorborating it?

and were is the promotion?

You still trust FOX and MSN over a self determined, independant news source. Damnz. Its like going to corporate McDonald's when you can go to a nice sit-down dinner for free.

 you believe a socalst/communist terrorist propaganda source over many varied sources?

damz..... that aint a sit down dinner, thats you eatin tofu while I munch on the steak....

He is a minor.
I am not giving you any more information about him or his situation.
I won't risk hurting his chances in any way.
What I've said is entirely verifiable, and if you like, I'll give his name to the Cap'n or someone else I know and trust, and they can verify that this is entirely true.

So did they fabricate the recording in that video where the kid is told that he will go to jail if he does not join the Army?

lol. But it has Democracy in its name! It must be better. Right? Besides they all get their media from the ominous AP that tells them all what to right or something. Because they news in my paper is exactly the same as the ones on my TV and EVERY single article is from AP except the local issues. What is this huge and over ominous Associated Press? /s

So what?

I am not asking anything personal. I am asking you some basic information to back your claim up...

Well, i have a bigger hammer, and i was holding it until you answered, but i think you had an idea which is why you ain't answering......

Army Regulation 601-210, paragraph 4-8b:

"Applicant who, as a condition for any civil conviction or adverse disposition or any other reason through a civil or criminal court, is ordered or subjected to a sentence that implies or imposes enlistment into the Armed Forces of the United States is not eligible for enlistment.."

Sorry, your story does not match Army regulations! :2wave:

10? where did you go? I am interested in your response. :2wave:

I was PMing you the pertinent information, and then I realized that I don't know you or trust you worth a damn, and I'd be a dreadful mother to hand information that could potentially be harmful to my child to a total stranger on the internet, just because he calls me a liar.

There is exactly one person on this forum who I would absolutely trust to respect my family's confidentiality and not hurt my son's chances, and who would also have access to the means to verify my story, and that is the Cap'n.
You're in the military. I don't want them to change their minds and not take him because you make trouble for him. He has to go.

If you do not believe my son was arrested and given a suspended sentence (charges to be dropped eventually) on the condition that he join any branch of the US military, and that he recently joined the US army, I will give the Cap'n my son's name, and he can verify that.

And then what?
Will you publicly apologize?
Who cares? You think that's going to make anything better?

You have no idea the hell my family and I are living through.

Smart move. It would be idiotic for you to give anyone your personal information, me, CC, anyone.

I feel for you and my prayers have always been with you and your family. However.....

The other branches have similar regulations.

Look, it's true, he enlisted, he's going.
He has to go, or else he's going to jail.
I'm not trying to open some big legal can of worms here.
I don't know if he's legally eligible or not, but this is what happened, and he's already enlisted.

Don't make any trouble for him. This is his best chance.
