Palestinian bomb on the Gaza side of the border kills a soldier. Israel responds by bulldozing the attack site and air strikes against tunnels.

Sounds like an appropriate response, but if the attacks continue, Israel will have every right to take the gloves off and end the region of the Hamas scourge.

Comments?

The soldier was killed Tuesday on Israel's frontier with the Gaza Strip by a roadside bomb planted on the Gaza side and set off by remote control, the military said. Three other soldiers patrolling the border were injured.

Israel responded swiftly, sending tanks and bulldozers into northern Gaza to plow up the attack site and launching an airstrike that wounded a Hamas militant "who was prominent in the organization accountable for the attack," the military said. Hamas said the Israeli strike injured one of its men as he rode a motorcycle in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis.

Airstrikes early Wednesday targeted the network of tunnels used to smuggle arms, money and people into Gaza from Egypt. Israel bombed the tunnels heavily during the war, but smugglers resumed work after the cease-fire.

Same old bs from both sides.

Palestinians are pissed Israel is blockading them. Palestinians react, and Israel reacts and it goes on and on. Both sides do not want peace and both sides are at fault.

So long as the Gazans continue to import weapons, Israel is going to do everything in their power to prevent. WHen Hamas wants to live in peace, I am sure Israel will go along. However, the only peaceful Hamas member is a DEAD Hamas member.

Check out the script.

Act 1 US sends envoy to ME.

Act 2 Isreal and Hamas start shooting and dropping bombs.

Act 3. US Envoy arrives, sprinkles entire region with magic love dust.

Act 4 Bombing stops.

Act 5 Obama sainted as miracle worker. :rofl

Intermission............

Repeat acts 1 through 5.

Intermission...........

So you are saying that Israel is blockading the Gaza strip to prevent guns being smuggled in? Do you mean that the border crossings totally controlled by Israel were used by the Palestinians to smuggle weapons in? Are you saying that weapons were being smuggled in from Israel? You do know, that anything crossing the Egypt-Gaza border had to be not only controlled by Israel but okayed .. right? And you expect me to believe they would let weapons in?

Now if you mean the tunnels, then that is another thing, but why should a bunch of tunnels mean that the whole area is under blockade so no food or fuel can enter? Makes no sense, and frankly only emphasized the need for the tunnels to import not only weapons, but basic food and fuel.

Just think.. if Israel opened up the borders for flow of food and material, then they could claim that the tunnels not only are not needed but those that are used, are used for illegal activities. But noo.. lets blockade the whole area and make sure that the Palestinians are forced to use the tunnels to survive.

And that is just one problem, that one side willing uses to prolong the conflict.

Hamas and the radicals could call Israel's bluff, and stop all attacks for a few months or more, and see if Israel are serious about peace. And if Hamas and others did that, then Israel should also call their bluffs and stop the expansion of settlements... maybe just maybe that would start the whole peace thing to roll.

Sorry but Israel is as much to blame for the actions of Hamas and others, as the Palestinians are . Both sides are at fault.

You are ignoring the seacoast, which is also subject to the blockade and through which Hamas could import weapons from Syria and Iran.

Blockading of the coast makes absolute sense given the history of using the sea passages to import weapons from Syria and Iran.

It requires personnel to inspect everything crossing the border. Israel has said that it views positively the use of international forces to police the terms of the cease fire, including that crosses the border. Hamas said no.

And that is just one problem, that one side willing uses to prolong the conflict.

Who continues to attack using explosives?

I wish they would, but then we would also find that it is not a bluff on Israel's part. Israel dismantling its Gaza settlements must have been part of the bluff too, huh?

We happen to disagree on this point. Don't forget that Hamas seized power in Gaza more than a year and a half ago at the point of a gun in violation of the laws of the PA.
