OK, with four and a half days left in my vacation, I am getting a little bored, but this gave me a few laughs.

Of course, I would have no problem with Jessica Alba lashing out (or doing anything else) at me/ to me or whatever.

"Last week, Mr. Bill O'Reilly and some really classy sites (i.e.TMZ) insinuated I was dumb by claiming Sweden was a neutral country. I appreciate the fact that he is a news anchor and that gossip sites are inundated with intelligent reporting, but seriously people...it's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during WWII was Switzerland. Check out: [Wikipedia link] if you want to see what I was referring to. I appreciate the name calling and the accurate reporting. Keep it up!!"

LOL Well people would typically say, "Be neutral like Switzerland." Not neutral like Sweden!

Someone tells you they're from Austria and you ask them if they put the shrimp on the barby, mate. :)

She's an idiot for calling O'Reilly a news anchor.

She is right.

TMZ and O'Rielly are wrong. Sweden is still a neutral country.

Then again it is not the first time O'Rielly does not fact check, even not the first time O'Rielly does not fact check facts about Sweden.

She's not only good looking, but she is good looking AND has at least some intelligence. That is doubly good in my book.

Well O'Rielly rarely fact checks anything outside the US borders, so it is pretty easy to pick his arguments apart.

He once used a debunked report on gay marriage (was against it of course), where among other nations, Sweden and Denmark were mentioned. The report and O'Rielly claimed that since Sweden and Denmark introduced registered partnerships (gay marriage) the marriage rate in the countries had fallen dramatically and children born outside of wedlock had exploded. Now if he had bothered to go to the Danish or Swedish statistical department (it is in English too), then he would have seen that the report's numbers were false and in actual fact the reality was no change at all. Plus he of course forgot to mention the changes in society over the years and the differences between Sweden/Denmark and the US when it comes to the whole marriage thing. But hey, he got his homophobic rantings over to his audience without any one questioning his motives or his figures..

How neutral can Sweden be if it has troops fighting in Afghanistan? She messed up and said Sweden when she meant to say Switzerland. If she would have just dropped it that would have been the end of it.

It would have been funnier in Mandarin Chinese as the names of the two countries have the same first character.

However, Sweden has been neutal from the time of its embarassment in the Napoleonic Wars (resulting in the loss of Finland to Russia) through the Cold War.

Although Sweden has been militarily neutral for nearly two centuries, it has been active in contributing troops to peacekeeping missions. During the 1950-53 Korean war, it even sent a military hospital to Korea, and later in the 1950s, began providing military observers and peacekeepers in the Middle East. Sweden, like Switzerland, has a small professional armed force, augmented by a huge reserve (containing all males of military age fit for military service.) The peacekeepers are a combination of professionals, and reservists who volunteer for the duty.

Korea was a UN action. My guess is that the Middle East actions you note were also UN actions.

Unlike Switzerland, Sweden was a UN member through the Cold War.

You are confusing things.

Sweden has been involved in UN peacekeeping (which Afghanistan technically is) since forever because it is a member of the UN, which Switzerland is not. That does not change the fact that Sweden is and sees it self as neutral in any and all conflicts around the world (warfare) and never takes sides and it has been like that for centuries. During the cold war, Sweden had good relations with both sides and did not side with anyone.. much like Finland, which by the way is also a neutral nation.

Switzerland hasn't been involved in any armed conflict for about a hundred and fifty years. That's who Jessica should think of when she thinks of neutrality. Hasn't she ever seen Sound of Music?

ABBA and Volvos are what should make her think of Sweden.

This remind anyone of the time Pete spent untold post trying to argue that people joking about France as cheese eating surrender monkeys were not talking about France as cheese eating surrender monkeys, but some other country? This semantically charged melee is tailor made for Pete’s taste! It is Déjàvu all over again. :rofl

Sweden is a neutral country, and no amount of disinformation or "what you think when you hear neutrality" can change that fact. There are very few neutral nations in the world, and Sweden is one of them. Finland and Switzerland come to mind also, as does Austria, the Vatican City, Costa Rica, Malta and Liechtenstein.

Therefore she is absolutely correct and O'Rielly and TMZ are absolutely incorrect. It is not her fault that O'Rielly and TMZ are on this point at least very uninformed... although when it comes O'Rielly it aint a shocker.

I can completely understand why you feel derailed when I debunk some of your claims and comments.

Now back to your argument Alba was right and it is just the rest of society who thinks she made a boo boo. Carry on brave warrior!

By the way did you not quit these boards a while back?

No and that is like the third or fourth time you asked that question. Chuckle. You really do need some ginkoloba Pete, in heavy amounts. ;)

Jessica Alba is breaking news. :lamo

Who gives a **** what she says, only her tits count.

We may have lost our own Billo but, the real dummy can still be counted on to entertain us. Who would think that a hottie, like Alba, would put him in his place? :doh Then again, it doesn't take much.

For those of you who can't bring yourself to believe that that derriere is smarter than Billo, or that Billo ia actually wrong, here's an unofficial list of neutral countries.

Switzerland has not right to be proud of its posistion in world war 2 it had the resources to fight against a totalitarian regime commiting genocide and chose not to.

And what exactly would SUI have been able to do against the Nazi war machine?
