Official: UN may prosecute Bush administration, regardless of US action

Now I know that Bush has his problems, but these will discussed and vetted here in the United States, not in the UN. Of course, you can prosecute Bush if you want to. BTW, good luck arresting Bush. Our army will kick ass on your army.

Article is here.

That so-called official can kiss our American asses before that ever happens.
I am surprised more die hard Bush bashers haven't jumped in this thread to defend the anti-American idea of the UN prosecuting our former president and his appointees.

Lets say the impotent UN convicts them....

Who is going to enforce it?

UN=Fail

The rest of the world. Meaning they can never leave the US without getting arrested.. If that is what you mean?

Except perhaps a few crappy countries that will not enforce it.

uhm yeah, ok, which europeon country would arrest a former US president, and former us president?:lol:

If he was convicted in the UN trials or in the Hague as a war criminal I think non of the European countries would not arrest him.

Perhaps he could travel relatively freely in some African countries.

I think the "Pinochet scenario" where Bush is interned while in a European country (although I doubt the UK be the one to do it) could possibly happen.

If that happened I really doubt Obama would risk war or even severely strained relations with the EU to get Bush back. There would be a distinct chance of trial.

What would be best is if Bush was seized while traveling in Eastern Europe somewhere. This would avoid the more obvious bull**** people would raise if it happened in Western Europe. Additionally, Eastern European countries contained (and probably continue to contain) CIA "black sites", so arresting Bush over that would be a strong grounds for the initial proceedings.

What would make A LOT more sense is snatching Cheney while he's traveling. I REALLY doubt anyone in the US would get too upset about that.

I thought Bush had never been outside of the country before he became POTUS. I doubt he'll leave America again.

I love how the UN resolution 1441 people are all of the sudden decrying the UN as irrelevant now.

Hahahaa - that what I thought. I've seen people here, people now denouncing the UN, use Iraq and Iran's refusal to comply with UN Resolutions/UN Umbrella groups as pretext for criticisms or war. Funny how those same people cry the irrelevance of the UN in matter of US affairs or Israeli affairs

I hope they try. The faster the better.

It would be the first opportunity to start moving to have the UN removed from US soil.

Removing the UN would never happen under Obama, but it would set a great foundation to put the US Socialist Party against the wall.

People may have tired of the war, but they sure aren't ready to see a president taken to task by a bunch of thugs and despots in the UN.

Just do it.

I hope he leaves the minute they have papers for his arrest/capture. A nice trip to France.

If I were him, I'd do it.

It would be a stroke of political brilliance.

I think you are misreading people's use of the UN resolution argument, if anything else, the U.N.'s inaction speaks to it's irrelevance, and the fact that we are the only nation that follows through on the enforcement part of the contract is the concrete proof of the point. We do what we are obligated to do, while many of our citizens are tired of the U.N. not living up to it's bargain, while backseat driving the countries that tow the line, all while trying to meddle with our internal constitutional affairs, if we had a politician with more guts, they'd call it like it is and ask for articles of war against the U.N., but that ain't gonna happen.

I think the UN should prosecute Obama for war crimes. He ordered missile strikes on homes in Waziristan Pakistan. Innocent people died. Obama is a warmonger. How dare he order strikes on homes. Three innocent children were killed in those homes?

Missiles fired from suspected US drones killed at least 15 people inside Pakistan today, the first such strikes since Barack Obama became president and a clear sign that the controversial military policy begun by George W Bush has not changed.

Security officials said the strikes, which saw up to five missiles slam into houses in separate villages, killed seven "foreigners" - a term that usually means al-Qaeda - but locals also said that three children lost their lives

Obama is a murderer. He has ordered these attacks which have killed innocent children. Damned American Imperialist warmonger!

Well, "if" the UN did that, Obama would turn him over. The world wants BushCo to pay for their crimes. It is inevitable.

I'm not against his actions. But it is diametrically opposed to the clip below.

I'm also waiting for the worldwide condemnation of this imperialist and his actions to pour into the streets... just thinking the Eurostani's will be consistent and lead the way.

Is the UN going to set up a tribunal to prosecute The Obamer too?

YouTube - Obama: Let's stop "air-raiding villages & killing civilians"

And just how is that sir strike "diametrically opposed" to that clip?

A shame then that France do not have the death penalty. :doh

No, he wouldn't, We do not turn over U.S. civilians to the U.N. PERIOD.

If there is ever a trial for Bush (there never will be), it will be done on U.S. soil by the U.S. courts, not the U.N.

The leftist whackos are at it again...

I don't care what you think of Bush, he's OUR President and WE will deal with him as WE see fit. To allow a foreign entity to prosecute or intern a President of the United States is a gross, gross violation of our national sovereignty and identity. I would scream bloody-murder if something like that happened.

In fact, if Obama didn't deal with the offending nation by initiating an immediate show of force I would renounce my allegiance to him, brand him a traitor, strap on my combat boots, and head over there myself with the good ol' Reverend watching my six. Don't worry, George, I may not like your administration but I'll be dead in the ground before I let some foreigners touch a single hair on your head. The same thing goes for any US President. It's called ideological continuity...you leftist partisan moon-bats should try it sometime. It provides a refreshing sense of clarity and balance.

Thats delusional, he is not your president, he is just a civilian with a dark past. And you dealing with him is doing nothing.

OMG YOUR SUCH A BAD ASS

holy crap wow

go save Bush with your bow-staff skills

Ah yes, another substantive contribution from the DP fortune-cookie. Perhaps one day you'll actually understand what the words duty and honor mean, but you'd have to stop shopping and screwing for two seconds for that to ever happen, so I'm not holding my breath.

Its possible to be loyal, honest and honorable in your behavior towards your country or the human population, without being a far right nationalist..

it's exactly as substantive as you telling everyone how you're going to beat up everyone and their dads because you love America so much

So, when I defend the ideals of national sovereignty and governance - ideals which uninformed people such as yourself are all too willing to disregard because it fits their partisan agenda - it makes me a flag-waving goon? Nice try hipster, but your irrelevant quippery isn't enough to convince anyone that you know what the hell you're talking about. Here's a tip, the next time you find yourself drooling over a pair of shoes why don't you spend that money on a textbook instead. You know, the kinds that inform and instruct the novice as to the proper modalities of government and law?

except mine was funny

You might be funny if everything you posted didn't reek of desperation for approval.

"Oh, look at me everyone! I'm ever so hip and funny! Don't believe me? Then allow me to convince you with an amusing anecdote that shows how decidedly cool and trendy I am!"

Keep on truckin' bro. You're the man n sh*t.
