Obama 'set to close Guantanamo'

I think closing Guantanamo is probably the best way for President Obama to start his first term of office. It is showing the world that we are willing to change and once again become the United States that everybody has looked up to for the past 100 years. I cant see why we don't transfer them to regular pow camps and grant them trials (which was the big problem with guantanamo). We have to follow up on this move and cleanse the military and political hierarchy that has allowed this to happen for so long. These people are downright evil and are no better than the terroriststs themselves. No wonder they want to blow us up.

The Navy base at Gitmo has been around for over 100 years. Therefore we are the US that everyone has known for 100 years.

Obama supporter per chance?

We are willing to take POW's and put them on trial before the war is over. That's change alright.
The Germans, Japs and Italians would have found this delightful.

So will future enemies.

So now the troops will have to do field interrogations of the enemy and testify in court too?

Cleanse the military heirarchy? Spoken like a true lefty. What needs cleansing? It seems Gates was OK by Obama. What do you have in mind? Elimination of the military?

Do you mean to cleanse DC of people who cast a vote in support of sending troops into harms way and then do a 180 when times get tough?
I agree if this is what you mean.
That means you're ready to get rid of the Democrat Leadership in its totality.

Perhaps a leadership position in Congress is what you should be shooting for.

...protecting ourselves against enemies foreign and domestic.
Bush did it. Let's see how Obama does.

Actually, reading several articles about it, Europeans seem unwilling to take those people, so the problem is all yours. The base IS going to be closed in a year, you have to figure out the solution about what to do with them..

Perhaps you could put them in gaschambers for being Muslims? :shock:

I am sure "Gitmo 2" already exist somewhere in the US, and "gitmo 3" and "gitmo 4" and so on, but hidden and unknown.
