Senate confirms Clinton as secretary of state

Senate confirms Clinton as secretary of state - Yahoo! News

The Senate confirmed Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state Wednesday as President Barack Obama moved to make his imprint on U.S. foreign policy, mobilizing a fresh team of veteran advisers and reaching out to world leaders. The Senate voted 94-2, with Republican Sens. David Vitter of Louisiana and Jim DeMint of South Carolina opposing.

Republicans and Democrats alike said her swift confirmation was necessary so that Obama could begin tackling the major foreign policy issues at hand, including two wars, increased violence in the Middle East and the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.

"It is essential that we provide the president with the tools and resources he needs to effect change, and that starts with putting a national security team in place as soon as possible," said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.
I really do hope that if Clinton screws up Democrats will at every turn they get tell the Republicans that their 'boys in Washington' supported Clinton.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself there hatey. Supporting and voting against confirmation are two completely different things. And we all know she's going to screw up, it's only a matter of time.
Welfare (Food Stamps, WIC, etc...) are not entitlements. They are taxpayer funded handouts and shouldn't be called entitlements at all. Social Security and Veteran's benefits are 'Entitlements' because the people receiving them are entitled to them. They were earned and paid for by the recipients.

Every human makes mistakes. But when the time comes to go eyeball to eyeball with a tough minded Putin or Middle Eastern leader there's no one else I can think of who I'd rather have in there than Hillary.

Maybe Richard Holbrook or John Bolton. All three are tough negotiators but Hillary has a soft side as well that might outshine that of the other two.

That is just unnescesary. Really, you have no way of predicting that she will screw up. Shes the best thing to happen to Obama's administration, and thats just rude, and ignorant. Why not try and show a little support for your new government, wether your a democrat or republican, this is what is going to be the toughest challenge for the Obama administration, gaining the confidence of the public, and acting like that, will not make that task an easier one.

Really? I don't think it makes a difference really. It seems like the game here has been. If you vote for something. You support it.

Well sorry that we showed a little animosity and disappointment that Bush lost the election, but won the Presidency. And if we had it our way, the country wouldn't be in shambles like it is now.

And many conservatives support Obama, and its just the few that wont give him a chance. I don't care if you voted fo rhim, but he won, and hes your Commander-In-Chief, so show him and his colleagues, who you have to rely on for your life, a little respect.

Yeah yeah, we've heard it all before about losing the election. Total crap but another story, you didn't honor him as you expect us to honor Obama. The country isn't in shambles, not even close. You're such a whiny person, geez. "OMG our country is in shambles, we're all gonna die!"
