There has been rampant speculation that Bush might pardon Scooter Libby, or even give pre-emptive pardons to those in his administration who might be charged with a crime in the future. But, other than the 2 INS agents, whose sentences were commuted this morning, it looks like there are not going to be any other commutations or pardons before Bush leaves office.

That is fine and dandy with me. It means that Bush supporters can still bash Clinton's pardons of Mark Rich and others, while not looking like hypocrites.

I doubt he will pardon Libby. That would take away Libby's option to take the 5th if questioned by prosecutors. Bush knows this.

If he gives any of his admin pardons, he'll be admitting their, and by default his, guilt. Love that catch-22!

Rabid monkey, like Clinton admitted his?

I hate this game Presidents play. It's like they spend their 4 or 8 years drinking the bath-water of Americans and then at the last second they pardon their best friends.

I would say that the 2 he did pardon, who after all were merely doing their job under the rules they had been taught.
These 2 guys deserved pardons.
Who else has Bush jnr pardoned?

It is official. Bush turned down pardon requests for Michael Milken, Ted Stevens, Scooter Libby, and a host of others, who had hired high powered lawyers to make their requests.

Thank you, Mr. President.
