Poll confirms US image problem ahead of Obama debut

If you add veterans cost, homeland security, the war on terror, Iraq and Afghanistan costs, the military and defense related spendings are very close to 1 trillion EVERY year.

Every year? Really, want to go back 5 even 8 years? How about during Clinton's time where he kept up the military reduction that HW and Reagan started? The economy was dependent upon that?

LOL.

Furthermore the military does not go out invade someone and take all their stuff.

Try again.

What about Iraq? You control their oil..

Anyways. 13 trillion dollar economy isnt a 13 trillion dollar tax revenue, the US federal tax income is around 2.5 trillion.. Spending 1 trillion of that on the military, I would say its something that you can hardly afford when you run federal government deficits of 500 billion or more every year and 250 billion of those are interest rates on the federal budget debt of over 10 trillion.

Since when?

Iraq is in control of its own oil. They get the oil money. They spend it.

Way to change the subject. I agree that we can't afford to spend like that. Reagan, HW and Clinton all recognized that and started military cutting.

But you have yet to prove that the US economy is reliant upon military spending especially given the past two decades where it has been a small part of the overall economy.

Plus the military do what you claim it does.

You sure about that?

Really? Only Clinton cut military spending of the 3, Reagan was a military maniac, and had about the same policies as GWB, cut taxes and increase spending, especially military related ones.
