That is a fine and noble sentiment, as long as you aren't interfering in a lot around the world.

Even longer, we have had free markets and capitalism for thousands of years, but not the same way as it is now.. Consumerism is a relatively new thing.. I would say its American.

Then you would just be wrong again. You have a helluva streak going.

    Pray Tell . . . What was Adam Smith's Trading Company ?

Pray Tell . . . What Continent was John Stuart Mill born on ?

The notion of "Consumerism" is more accurately associated with its most blatant manifestation, the Rise of the British Empire, where the buying power of the English middle class, and control of the seas and British ports, inflicted on the World an Empire on which the Sun never set.

Nah, that was just free markets and regular capitalism, conquer and gain type of policies, not consumerism as a driver for the economy like in the US.

Yes, the selling of goods, and thus the buying of goods, is a new thing.

Simply false, as I detailed in the previous post.

The middle Class of England, used consumerism as a driver for their economy, and thier Military, and thus the creation of an Empire upon which the Sun never set.

The sun is certainly setting now. England is bankrupt, their economy looks unhealthy even when comparing with the US.

Perhaps consumerism is English... I wouldnt know, but in todays world its mostly American.. Manufacturing and exports are driving the European economy for example.

    lol.

    Nice contradiction.

Apparently you don't subscribe to the Ron Paul world of not making unnecessary enemies.

Sorry but you are completely wrong what we had in the past was mercantilism, protectionism, and neo-mercantilism. Free market economies have never really existed.
