As of 5PM in Washington, the Bush administration is officially over.

This is not a thread for Bush bashers or Bush supporters, but for both groups. Time for a toast, either good or bad, to Bush.

Article is here.

Many will say that Bush was the worst president in history, but I toast him for his pick of judges, that will keep a Constitutional aspect in the courts for at least a generation. On everything else, I will keep my mouth shut. He is gone, and there is a new tyrant to worry about.

One thing I will give the guy credit for is that he's been quite a class act in leaving gracefully. In the interviews I've seen from him as of late he has surprised me. Of course, this could just be because he's leaving, but after the legacy (or lack thereof) that he's left he could have been a complete jerk if he wanted to be and nobody would have been surprised. His approval ratings actually went up to 34%.

Bye Bush .. :2wave:

Thanks for giving me lolz over the years. I don't know what i'll do without you ... :p

I agree with you there. He certainly wasn't stingy in giving out the lolz.

Agreed, one of his greatest achievements indeed. I have to say, He amused me more than any other leader this past 8 years. I'll shed a tear when he leaves white house

the nation is without a president until Tuesday?????
or has Cheney bumped up the ladder??????

He really wasnt all that bad. I still hold the opinion that Mr. Bush Jr. is a genius. Borderline evil Genius but genius none the less.

And as most have and will have said, his quotes are great fun.

I wonder if there's a special ceremony for when "The decider" leaves office?

Certainly a lot more class that the LAST departing administration.

For the record, he is not a Jr. The incoming president is.

Actually, for the record, Bush IS a Jr. because his father, with the same first name, is a Sr.

I really liked his farewell speech. And although not a member of his fan club I am glad that I did not have to make the choices he had to make because of the issues that were forced on him.

But off he goes into the sunset and now we can all rag on what an idiot Obama is. FRESH MEAT!

No, because they DO NOT have the same MIDDLE name. The ENTIRE name must be the same.

The elder is George Herbert Walker Bush.
The younger is George Walker Bush.

The younger does not have Herbert as a part of his name, this NO Jr.

Among other things, but that was supremely childish.

Well, yes it was childish, which is precisely why it shouldn't be taken as seriously as you appear to be taking it. It was a childish light jab that was most likely meant to make them laugh.

It was still stupid and juvenile. Besides, there is also the Clinton pardons among other things the outgoing administration did. They were like children when Bush won the election in 2000. IN fact, some of their supporters are STILL acting like children about it.

Shoes flying mean something entirely different to me:

Do you remember the movie "Wag the Dog"?

The world is so intense now for anyone to want to lead any country is out of my circle of ambition. Having raised a family and a career that has been enough for this one man much less a job that entails the possibility of wiping out all life as we know it. It goes beyond reason and intellect.

Safe travels Mr. President. Only time will tell if you are remembered as one of the best or worst.

Good judicial picks, disastrous war. You threw your conservative base to the wolfs and let more liberal minded people think you stole an election... or 2.

In the end you followed what you thought was right. I can respect that even if I disagree.
