    All they found was methane. Here is the second sentence of the article

    Nasa scientists say the emissions could have either a geological or biological source - as The Sun exclusively revealed today.

    Almost every planet has methane on it, and most have several orders of magnitude more than Mars does.

    Well unless there's biological activity on Neptune, methane does not require life to be produced. Additionally, Mars has a great deal less methane than several planets that definitely do not have and have never had life on them.
