It's simpler than what you make it out to be yes.

Will there be problems? Yes. Hell we have cases every now and then in the military dealing with racism. Why wouldn't we have problems with this?

That doesn't mean you just throw it out because a few bad apples can't handle it.

I think our military officers have better things to do than trying to arrange the logistics of showers to placate a few homophobes.

You'll shower when, where, and with whom they tell you to shower, or else you can and should be dishonorably discharged.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

One would have to ask, is it wise to implement social change in the middle of two wars?

Why do this now, and not wait until peace time? will it affect moral? less than most think, more than others. But the fact that troops are dying, do we want to mess with a social status quo at this moment?
There is no "social change". I served openly gay for 4 years and was not the only one in my squad. No one cared, and the mission was never compromised because of it. The status quo is the same with or without "Don't ask, don't tell."

The last thing on my mind during any serious military action is sex. If anyone is thinking about what the guy next to him is thinking about sexually while being shot at, then it is that person who cannot focus on the mission and that person does not belong in the military.

If Obama does this, it is +1 with me on his achievements.
