Well, if they want sex then they are forced to choose to have sex with a woman, right?

    No.

As if serving means you don't arrive at opinions on pure emotions.

Yes you do have control over who you sleep with. If you did not I know plenty of ugly people who I would be sleeping with, but I don't because I do not find them attractive. I am free to make the choice.

I am a black man and I had no choice in the matter.

No one is asking anyone to sleep with someone they don't want to, period.

Yep, the prospect of being sent to Iraq or Afghanistan is nothing compared to the horrors of another dude looking at your weiner.

Well then perhaps you could explain it to me. You acknowledge that gays already serve in the military. What is gained by pretending that they don't? Who is demoralized? How so? How will this effect their performance? Why is that the gays' problem rather than the homophobes' problem?

Of course you do, but in this case you have no real experience. You can't know or understand some of the variables that come into play.

As I said this does not invalidate your opinion, but you have less information than someone who has served on this particular subject.

A gay man has no choice in the matter either. The only choice he has is whether he wants to engage in relations with the same sex or live in denial because it bothers some people. I'm sorry, but that's stupid.

Well, if they want sex they'll have to won't they? Should they just not have sex at all? Would you be able to?

It has hurt enlistments enough without adding more at this time.

Who is pretending that they don't? I never said or implied this. I don't want to know who is or is not, period. It would be an unwelcome distraction no matter how much you would like to candy coat it.

80% of this country is Christian, so odds are the military breakdown is about the same. So you are talking about a minority of military personal to begin with. We are so concerned about protecting the sensibility's of the minority. Who is protecting the sensibility's of the majority?

It would affect moral as many people in the military would be very uncomfortable to say the least. I can honestly say as much as I agree gay people should be allowed to serve, I probably would have balked at joining. I am certain a whole lot of troops would feel exactly the same way.

Re: Obama to End Military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Policy

I am totally against this. As a veteran I believe this will cause problems. Soldiers live in close quarters. Men and women may live in the same barracks but they have seperate rooms, rest rooms, and showers. Bare in mind that the showers are not private and many men will be showering at the same time. Just as men and women shower seperatly will men and gays be showering seperatly. If I know a soldier is gay Im not getting naked in front of him. And what about rooms. Typically there will be anywhere from 2 to 4 men or more shareing a room. The same with women. I don't want a gay man as a roommate checking me out when Im dressing. Or when Im laying around in my underwhere watching TV or what ever. I do not think open gays can serve with straight soldiers unless accomidations are made such as seperate rooms and restrooms and showers for gays just like there are seperate facilities for men and women.

They know full well when they join the military about "don't ask don't tell" so who is the stupid one?

The military frowns on relations between officers and enlisted as well. They do what most others do and go on leave.

    It is not that hard.
