WOAH big money dolla.... You think people are going to spend $500 each?

If this is true then there is NO recession.

Where did you get that from and through what means?

This isn't even counting the immense amounts of money that people who are already in the city are spending on crap like souvenirs etc etc. Obama's inauguration is already being seen as the Superbowl of inaugurations. Bigger, larger and with more people. Advertisers will want to put their names on every part of the city. This also in my opinion would bring a substantial amount of money to the city. The considerations taken in an inauguration aren't small. Pretty much every little dime gives back a dollar.

I guess we will see..... But Historically this has cost DC, not surplussed it.

No. I said the spending will probably amount to $500 a head by the time it's over. Not that every single person there will spend $500. Which isn't unheard of nor even remotely rare for an event of this size.

If this is true then there is NO recession.
$500 is a lot of of money to you? $500 is change for the most part. I doubt that even 10% of the people coming in to see the inauguration haven't already spent that much on preparations to get there.

No $500 is not a lot of money for me. However it is for a lot of people if you add in travel costs, hotel, etc, you are up to a grand unless you were counting that.

    Okay.

I would be interested in revisiting this once the numbers are in,

Why exactly is placing a hand on the bible and swearing, and a few parties afterwards going to cost 110 million?

Have politicians just given up trying to pretend to be unselfish and non-corrupt?

I ask because I truly don't know. I suspect they didn't since $44M doesn't sound like a whole lot when considering what all is involved. Do you have a link?

Don't worry about it if you don't. 4 years is a long time and the internet is updated often.
    Affiant further sayeth not.
