This article was written to generate the very controversy occurring in this discussion. It draws the obvious correlation between video games and violence, but it does so with lack of evidence. People are always looking for simple explanations for why negative aspects of society are why they are, but sometimes the answer is complex. In any case, put the blame where it belongs: with the person.
Also, teens are not stupid. They can distinguish between reality and fiction, unless they have a pre-existing mental problem, in which case a video game won't make a damn bit of difference. It's the old fuddy duddies who don't know how to use a computer or play a video game that assume it's so close to reality that people can't tell the difference. This foolishness is perpetuated by an older generation that can't use today's technology.
But oh friend of Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman, you've not answered my question. Murders and deaths have happened due to Books, Television, Sports, Movies, recreational hunting, firing ranges, car racing, and more. All of which are also considered "safe". Do you feel the same fascist thoughts that THOSE should also be banned for 5 years while we study the effects they have on people?
Now please excuse me, I just got done playing Sim City so I'm going to head out and go take a test to become a city planner since naturally all games cause me to immedietely think I can do everything in the game perfectly and in the real world.
"I am appalled that somebody who is the nominee...would take that kind of position"
"A court took away a presidency"
"...the brother of a man running for president was the governor of the state..."
It's horrifying because Trump is blunt instead of making overt implications.
I ask that because you have singled me out for scorn because I committed three unforgivable sins:
Call for long term studies of the link between random violence in this country and video gaming.
Said nice things about Joe Lieberman.
Said nice things about Hillary Clinton.
Some people would say that I was being downright moderate and reasonable.
Do extremists have the necessary mindset to be good city planners?
