More people will die of cancer or heart disease as a result of smoking than will be killed as a result of video games. See, cigarettes actually contain chemicals that cause these things. Video games don't contain inherently harmful things that will make people kill others. The fact that you would seriously try to compare the two is absurd and laughable. Like I said earlier, if it were truly a problem it would be far more wide spread than a random news story every now and then.

Resume your pointless and irrelevant crusade now.
He admittedly may have been a spoiled brat but he was being given the "ass whipping" tough love you suggest when he murdered his mom.

And what about the kid who never posed a discipline problem until he went Game Crazy Berserk? I seem to recall some normal kids and good students who scored impressive real life kill totals. Would such kids have warranted "ass whippings," too?

I take it you are a Gamer. As such might your perspective be a little callous?

After killing thousands of zombies and elves and other animated bad guys your sensitivity is obviously lessened. It shows in your comment above that excuses game related deaths by comparing those relative few (it SHOULD be zero if it was as safe as some gamers would contend) people who died due to Game Craziness with the millions who have died from smoking.

Some practices in life are more hazardous than others.

Because Influenza deaths are fewer than Cancer deaths doesn't mean that we should stop getting flu shots.

This presumes that one cannot tell the difference between real zombies and animated zombies.

I've noticed that you lose a bit of coherency when you get excited.

I can't tell what you mean here.

You're right, parenting is hazardous and should be avoided at all costs.

Actually not really. I have a game system, but I rarely play it. I think video games are just a way to waste time if you have nothing better to do. Nice attempt to prematurely judge me though.

After killing thousands of zombies and elves and other animated bad guys your sensitivity is obviously lessened. You know, in an ideal world most things would cause zero deaths. Life is fragile. There are plenty of things out there that have caused deaths too. Should we get rid of those things as well? The problem is that you are automatically relating the behavior of this story to the video game as if that is the main cause of the problem. Yet you have no idea about the mental issues that this kid has or whether he has anger issues. This story is really nothing more than another one to throw on the pile in your ongoing crusade against video games. I think everyone gets what your agenda here is.

Oh, absolutely. However, smoking is far more hazardous than playing video games. That's why I quit smoking. But I know plenty of people who are regular hardcore gamers and they are the same nerdy bastards that they were before. The games don't suddenly make them violent people. You have nothing to back up your absurd claims other than these ridiculous stories that pop up once in a while.
