I think this article is rather interesting. Calling for the stabilization of capitalism and rebuilding it into a sustainable model not based on speculation, but rather long term stability.

Exactly the same things I have been thinking. It cannot go on like it is at least, then it will be ruined and broken.

Lead by the UN?

The most ineffectual corrupt body on the planet? The security council is a joke, and they want to make another to lord over the worlds financial institutions?

Lets not even talk about the fact the last persons who need to correct anything is more politicians. They are the biggest part of the problem.

Don't get me wrong, I see a need for stability, but we don't need more government to regulate the market. That is part of the reason the US is in this mess now.

No, it didnt say lead by the UN, it said, like the UN security council a similar idea should be made for global economic stability and regulation..

The UN isnt corrupt anyways, but thats a completely unrelated discussion(yet interesting one).
I am curious as to why the security council is a joke, as oppose to unilateral dangerous actions, like NAZI Germany in the past, imperial Japan and the US nowadays.

Yeah! Lets plan better capitalism! As if that weren't a contradiction in terms...

If governments with ****ed up monetary policies wanted to stop interfering with the economy and spending money they don't have... they would.

No matter what the solutions proposed will be more inflation, spending, nationalization, trade barriers or regulations. Governments don't produce wealth, they take it.

Politicians only offer more of the poison that got us here in the first place as a remedy, and IMO they're counting on the hard working American who doesn't spend more than he makes or gets into debt to produce the wealth they'll loot and spend.

No. We are not the EU, and don't need them telling us how to run our private banking. Through the security council or another body under the UN.

"The GAO report estimates that Iraq received $4.4 billion in illicit income from kickbacks on import contracts and on oil surcharges. According to interviews with Iraqi ministry officials cited in the report, it was the practice of the Iraqi government to inflate by 5-10 percent the price it would pay for humanitarian imports channeled through Oil for Food. The vendor would then return the surplus to the Iraqis under the table." - Scandals of Oil for Food - UN Security Council - Global Policy Forum

"With the publication of the Duefler Report in early October, it became very obvious that high ranking officials in the United Nations had engaged in criminal activity by taking bribes from Saddam Hussein. More recently, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was implicated in Iraq's oil-for-food scandal" - Ongoing UN Scandals Reflect Systemic Corruption :: International :: bLogicus

"The UN has faced several scandals involving its troops in recent years, including a DR Congo paedophile ring and prostitute trafficking in Kosovo." - BBC NEWS | Americas | UN troops face child abuse claims

"LAST MONTH A CLASSIFIED UNITED Nations report prompted Secretary General Kofi Annan to admit that U.N. peacekeepers and staff have sexually abused or exploited war refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The worst of the 150 or so allegations of misconduct--some of them captured on videotape--include pedophilia, rape, and prostitution. While a U.N. investigation into the scandal continues, the organization has just suspended two more peacekeepers in neighboring Burundi over similar charges. The revelations come three years after another U.N. report found "widespread" evidence of sexual abuse of West African refugees." - The U.N. Sex Scandal

No scandals here.

"The United Nations Security Council on Friday called on Hezbollah to immediately and unconditionally release abducted Israel Defense Forces soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

In a Presidential Statement, the Security Council expressed concern over the fact that the soldiers are still being held by Hezbollah, and that the organization has yet to provide any sign of life from the two.

"Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni -- who could soon be that country's prime minister -- says it would be "absurd" to elect Iran to a seat on the United Nation's Security Council, and she's right. But absurd is the UN's stock in trade. This is the world organization, remember, that ignores epic human rights abuses in places such as Darfur and Cuba, even as it passes endless resolutions slamming Israel. Ideas that are obviously ridiculous often strike the UN's collective brain trust as perfectly sensible. - Making a joke of the UN

Now lets talk money. The US and Japan pay around 30% of the UN budget. The US does not get reimbursed for use of NATO forces and intelligence. What would happen to the UN if we pulled our support?

Here you go with the Nazi accusation again. Please post proof of how the US is acting like Imperial Japan or Nazi's.

You have no idea what a Nazi is do you?

You Euros sure do have a facism fetish, eh?

And what is this anti-unilateralism festish except for some nonsensical post-nationalist philosophy where national sovereignty is abandoned in favor of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats in some far-off nation tells you what to do?

Fascism is alive and well in Europe.

So, we should disband the US as well then? Far more corruption and scandals there..

The food for oil stuff is just something you picked up because of US propaganda against the UN to force the people to allow the US government to make actions alone, for example in going to Iraq.. Its part of a bigger fallacy and untrue propaganda created in the US for the US people. Even if it were true, it would be dwarfed a million times by US political scandals and corruption over the past 50 years.

I am not saying the US is exactly like the NAZIs, I am just saying they use the same methods and want some similar things, and have some similar ideas. I call it neo-Nazism, which I have been critisized for, but I dont care, because its a new form of something that was very bad. Nationalism, combined with unilateral and broken politics, combined with an enslaved people, combined with the wrong ideas, combined with militarism, combined with extremism and so on..

Why do you always seek petty debates about unrelated things. Its clear the US is following the same path as the Nazis, except their Jews are Muslims instead, except their propaganda is more advanced, except many things are a bit different; The point here is the greater point not the tiny technicalities which you in blind naivety want to discuss to avoid looking at the bigger picture.
