    Harvard dean picked for solicitor general - Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal:

    President-elect Barack Obama has selected a Harvard University dean as his nominee for solicitor general, Obama’s transition team announced Monday.

    Elena Kagan, a current dean of Harvard Law School, is a former White House lawyer for Bill Clinton.
    T-minus 2 years till Dean Kagan is sitting in Justice Stevens seat.

    That's Larry Summers, who is Obama's new head of the National Economic Council. Dean Kagan is a woman who runs the law school, who turned down/wasn't offered the vacancy that Summers left.

    Obama sure has a hard-on for Academics. I'm not sure going from the Bush extreme where literacy was seen unpatriotic to an equal in the other direction is a particularly good idea.

    That's true, but that's hardly his entire cabinet. I think it's been pretty balanced between fresh idea people and DC practical people.
