    Good, send them on.
That is the chink in the plan to try them in court.
What do we do with them when they are found not guilty?

Not about to happen I'm afraid. Our Govt was forced some years back to agree to sending all arrested criminals and illegal immigrants back to their home countries - so I don't see them letting themselves get into serious hot water over Guantanamo.

Not even being discussed on British news anyway so I don't believe the story. So far only Germany has said it would accept the freed prisoners who are not guilty.

I believe as Laila said in another thread that this is a US problem and the US should compensate any prisoners found innocent - including housing them and giving them citizenship if they cannot be returned.

I think they should sent them to France and if found innocent and then released in France. If San Fransisco was a inaccessible island and Its own country I would then say San Francisco . After all, according to them these poor people in Gitmo are just nothing more than poor farmers and shopkeepers arrested by evil soldiers and CIA agents with nothing else better to do than harass poor innocent civilians.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Re: Britain Willing to Take ALL Gitmo Detainees

Britain is preparing to receive foreign terror suspects from Guantánamo Bay so that Barack Obama can shut it down, The Times has learnt.

Government sources say that Britain now supports moves to rehouse the detainees, despite previous refusals to help President Bush.

A Downing Street official said that a process to deal with the detainees was being put in place and that decisions “would be for the Home Secretary to decide on a case-by-case basis”.

The issue is the subject of intense negotiations within Whitehall. The Foreign Office appears much keener on the idea than other departments, which will have to deal with the suspects’ immigration status and whether they will need special housing and cash benefits. Having foreign terror suspects with no links to the UK housed here inevitably will provoke controversy.

If these people have been cleared for release is that not an admission that they were innocent?

I see no problem with UK allowing some to seek asylum here.

Why should the UK take them? They are a US problem; the US should take them, just like they should take all the Iraqi refugees.
Europe is illegally occupied by the US
