    I don't think the EU or the Australian tax-payers will be footing the bill for rehousing and re-settling them. You will be paying compensation to any country that hosts the innocent who are released and homed elsewhere.

    Personally I think it's a mistake the Foreign Office making this offer - though by some twisted logic I could understand them seeking refugee status as they may be harmed in the US for their political views and we do have an asylum agreement with the US.
