Re: Shhhh! As the world waits for Obama to voice his opinion on Gaza, America's presi
To me, it appears that Mary Mitchell made a statement, not an argument.
To explain, you made a big deal about the difference between an Argument and a Statement earlier in this thread.
How is her article (the entire article, not the first and last two sentences that were quoted), an "argument"?
It couldn't be clearer to me that it is a statement of her opinion.
You responded to me responding to Americanwoman, so I got confused, and was thinking of what Americanwoman said, sorry. We all have our faults.
I will repeat the offending words for ease of reference:
“When Sen. Barack Obama 'rejected' and 'denounced' the support of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan during the MSNBC debate last week, it wasn't his finest hour.
Fortunately for Obama, most black people understand the game.
Obama should have found a way to escape Russert's trap without denigrating Farrakhan's legacy.
But, like I said, we understand.”
Why Obama 'denounced' Farrakhan :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Mary Mitchell
It is a statement Obama is lying, a belief he is lying or her opinion, a racist statement dragging most blacks into it, but an argument that he is lying because he is a politician.
When a thing was done (the rejecting and denouncing), since we understand the game (lying for political gain), therefore, it (what it is believed Obama did, and irrelevant in this argument that it is her belief) was a lie.
"‘I have been very clear in my denunciation of Minister Farrakhan's anti-Semitic comments,’ Obama told Tim Russert, NBC Washington Bureau chief.”
Why Obama 'denounced' Farrakhan :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Mary Mitchell
“Yet Farrakhan's appeal to masses of African Americans is that
he is not a politician. And [/b]he is free to speak his mind[/b] because his organization does not depend on outside support.”
Why Obama 'denounced' Farrakhan :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Mary Mitchell
Mary Mitchell bigotedly and presumptuously stated that most black people understand Obama was lying, basically called him a liar, and
argued that Obama is a politician and therefore a liar who is not free to speak his mind.
Now, let’s not get confused here, I know “liberals” sometimes use the “I believe, therefore, it must be true” argument, they are like good little robots of the hive mind Obamanation democracy, and I now know that knee-jerks and their clapping monkeys can see the word “since” and an “I think” and therefore an argument came when it was just a statement. What I believe about Obama means no more than what Mary Mitchell believes, I have no idea what Obama is going to do in this matter of Israel/Palestine, so I could not make an argument to that effect if I wanted to. I am not God. I hope to see the Nation of Islam’s racist crap disappointed. All I can do is listen to the “articulate” Obama, and still wonder what the universal values are that democracy demands; let‘s not forget the principalities and powers of the air, that demon known as democracy (an inanimate thing of many stripes not always ruled by reason or established monotheistic morality). Somewhere around here I may be exceeding the limits; evolution comes to mind, but some might say this paragraph and claim ignorance as their eyes glassed over. Seriously, I only brought up the Ali Abunimah and Mary Mitchell disclaimers in response to the Muslim saying, “
we all know there will be no difference regarding Israel in a Obama adminsitration.” I will be pleasantly surprised if she is right.
I want Obama to go down as a good president, it would be in all of our best interests at this time, we are broke and the world hates us, and the first black president must be a good one, but if his own supporters argue he is a liar because he is a politician and he ignores it...
It is my opinion Obama needed to respond to the Mary Mitchell disclaimer in light of the earlier Ali Abunimah one, but we can only blame that on bad journalism, by the left (incompetence) and the right (hate), who do not want to defend most black people and Obama from Mary Mitchell.
The “Shhhh! As the world waits for Obama to voice his opinion on Gaza” could be because he has no real record of action (not long enough), or it could be the world is not sure whether Obama is a liar due to the misuse of the word “articulate“ in reference to him. He is a great orator, like Hitler, but he is not articulate. There is no need for anyone to bring up Tashah’s gross public orgasm over Obama’s Jerusalem comments.
Hopefully, there are no more misunderstandings.
