Shhhh! As the world waits for Obama to voice his opinion on Gaza, America's president

Re: Shhhh! As the world waits for Obama to voice his opinion on Gaza, America's presi

No, I quite clearly explained that OBAMA would be a jackass for speaking about the issue.

It seems more “liberal” than conservative for only a president elect Obama to be a jackass if he speaks, and not anyone else when it becomes their turn. Are you expecting him to be the last president elect? If not maybe you could explain the logic of what makes a jackass out of winning an election if they do not stop talking about the issues during that time frame of election to swearing the oath. It might be unwise to speak on an issue, but it being an automatic “jackass” gives me the hebegeebees.

General YOUS... “Liberals!”

There is only one president-elect at the moment that I am aware of. Are you aware of others at the moment who can speak on this particular Foriegn-relations issue so that I may criticize them if they do so in order to appease your sensibilities?

Re: Shhhh! As the world waits for Obama to voice his opinion on Gaza, America's presi

No, but since that scenario cannot happen it does not relieve you of being a bigot against Obama or explain your logic with regard to the “jackass.”

If anything Bush should start practicing to shut up. The idea of the old shutting up so the young can make their mark makes some courteous sense.

Jimmy Cotter Pin can be a jackass for speaking because he had his shot and lost; Saddam came to power, Iran got French Whine to oppose him, and the national security advisor created the Mujahedeenyweenys so we could skip a year of getting embarrassed by the Russians at the Olympics. He was a loser who could not have the class to shut up. Clinton so far has shown more class than Cotter Pin.

It makes sense for a former president to hold his tongue a little bit.

WISDOM may keep an elected tongue conservative, only a “liberal” makes a jackass when elected.

I'll be totally in awe of anyone who can actually fathom what the hell DC is blabbering about.

I think its better he doesn't make a comment on this. I don't have issues with a President Elect speaking about issues of domestic importance, but when it comes to Foreign Affairs I don't want anyone but the POTUS speaking publicly about a stance. Obama may be President here in less than half a month, but right now its still Bush and still Bush's policies and there does not need to be a second voice there to muddle it up.

I agree; it was bad enough for him to spout foreign policy as a candidate, no sense in doing any more as president elect. Besides, wont Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid be dictating foreign policy from now on?

Do you all think Obama should have made a statment either way on this or not?

He should have a statement and if he stops trying to hide his true self, our newly elected Black Muslim president will possibly spell the end of Israel.

Yes.

Personally I think the idea of having the Gaza strip in the middle of Israel is asinine. Gee, let's put two groups who dispise each other right next to each other... no wait, I have a better idea. Let's surround the weaker one with the stronger one and see what happens!

Surprise surprise, they fight...

Barack Obama's chances of making a fresh start in US relations with the Muslim world, and the Middle East in particular, appear to diminish with each new wave of Israeli attacks on Palestinian targets in Gaza. That seems hardly fair, given the president-elect does not take office until January 20. But foreign wars don't wait for Washington inaugurations.

Obama has remained wholly silent during the Gaza crisis. His aides say he is following established protocol that the US has only one president at a time. Hillary Clinton, his designated secretary of state, and Joe Biden, the vice-president-elect and foreign policy expert, have also been uncharacteristically taciturn on the subject.

No, if he honors his prior statement about America having one president at a time. Of course that won't stop Jimmy Carter from popping up anytime now.

You think the Israeli's want these bombs fired into their cities? It's the stupidity of the Palestinian terrorists.

Mark this as the first Obama tailored confrontation.

I believe the Israeli's made such an aggressive move because they see Obama as untrustworthy and instead of being dictated to by Him, instead of having to suffer through Obama's rhetoric, decided they could shut him up and set the tone for the next four years by moving aggressively.

Rightly so too.

Obama's statements are out there and his position paper supporting Israel is on his site. (Obama has played both sides of the fence). Now he has to pick sides.

Have to say I think this is an enormous blunder by Hamas. They gave the Israeli's the needed cards to lay down a Royal Flush.

Riiiiight. It was not the some 6,000 rockets fired at Israel over the past couple years or even the 80+ rockets fired at Israel alone on 12/17/08...

Hamas was doing nothing different these past 30 days than they had been for years.

Talk about a dumbass statement!

And Israel has been violating the law for the last 42 years.

No argument here.

My whole point is that Israel is not completely blameless and Hamas ain't the good guys.

What law has Israel violated? Are you suggesting that the moron UN resolutions demanding that Israel retreat back to its former borders are some form of LEGAL documents? How about demanding Arabs stop their war on Israel and defending Israel when it was attacked on THREE separate occasions by Arab legions bent on destroying the State of Israel?

The same UN that created the State of Israel did NOTHING when it came time to defend the state from inhalation. The notion that they have some form of moral authority on the matter is laughable. Do you honestly think they have some form of LEGITIMATE authority to demand that Israel give up lands won in battle unilaterally without ANY assurance of security from the very Arab nations who attempted to destroy them?

In order to make such inane arguments, one has to be wallowing in abject denial and historic ignorance.

The State of Israel was carved out of a tiny strip of worthless desert by the collective guilt of the world in the aftermath of WWII. It is there, it exists and nothing anyone can do can change that FACT except through genocide of an entire race.

The FACTS are clear to all but those who wallow in willing denial; peace and prosperity can occur tomorrow if Hezbolah, Hammas and other terrorist organizations who can only thrive through violence and spreading ignorance, would agree to Israel's right to exist and peacefully negotiate new borders and put down their weapons.

The belligerents have always been the Arabs and terrorists since the UN created this tiny nation; all they have to do is agree that Israel has the right to exist in perpetuity and sit down and talk about how to promote a peaceful coexistence.

Don't hold your breath though; terrorists have NOTHING to gain through peace.

Actually, I think Obama should have said something, despite the fact that he would be stepping on Bush's toes if he did. Also, I think not much will change once Obama takes office anyways. Obama, as well as Bush before him, are merely symptoms of a larger problem - Lazy voters, who don't bother to understand the issues before they go out and put these Bozos in office.

Obama breaks silence on Gaza, voices 'deep concern' over civilian deaths

Barack Obama, who takes over as U.S. president from George W. Bush on January 20, broke his silence about the violence in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, calling the loss of civilian lives in Gaza and in Israel a "source of deep concern for me."

Obama added he would adhere to his principle that only Bush should be the voice of U.S. foreign policy at this time but he would have plenty to say after his inauguration in two weeks.

Pressured into breaking his silence and mantra of 'one president at a time'
