IDF mobilizes tanks, reinforces troops along Gaza border - Haaretz - Israel News

The World notices that every single major or wanna be major nation has suggested a ceasefire.
Why they call for one is beyond my understanding.
Had any of these Nations been subjected to a constant barrage of rocket fire into their own territories they too would have taken steps to deal with the perpetrators.
Israel has been incredibly patient with Hamas.
Now at long last their patience is at an end and rightly so, it is to be hoped that they smash Hamas once and for all.
Having said this, this will not cause Palestinians to seek to find a peace deal, even if a peace deal were signed (with the usual give aways by Israel), none of the Palestinian factions would abide by whatever was agreed.
Another faction would rear it's head and simply continue where Hamas left off.

It is about time Israel do to Hamas what the NATO nations have been doing to the Taliban. Drive them from power. Complete extermination should be easier in the case of Hamas because they have no mountains to hide into.

After Hamas is exterminated, PERHAPS there will be a chance for peace. PERHAPS.

Hamas has repeatedly shown that they are not willing to honor a ceasefire agreement. Any such arrangement is nothing more than Israel agreeing not retaliate against Hama violence, and I see no reason for Israel to pursue it. Palestine will never be anything but a third world nation so long as Hamas holds power

do you honestly belive that palestinians are intrinsicly evil? talk of extermination? these are human being that have been subjected to resttlement, imprisonment and torture. finally they are hemmed into two small areas where they are blockaded from electrictiy, clean water, food, and medical supplies. I really dont know what Israel expects.

Children Israeli killed by Palestinians since sept 2000: 123, Palestinian chidlren killed by Israeli forces since sept 2000: 1050, with Israels population being approxamately double the size.

There are two ways to defeat Hamas, either stop the ecenomic segregation, unlawful imprionment, torture, and bloackading of humanitarian supplies to the GS and WB or kill all the palestinians. Israel has all the cards, and it plays the wall or the tank every time.

What support do you think Hamas would have if Palestinians were allowed to live in relative peace and prosperity?

Israel has tried the peace route. It has withdrawn from territory. They have provided water and electricity. They have provided medical care. All they get in response for this good will is rockets and illegal immigrants with bombs around their waists. This is insane. Israel has shown far more patience and restraint than virtually any other state would show given the aggression that has been shown against it. They have the right to protect themselves. At this point, it is up to the Palestinians and their organizations to show that they are willing to live side by side in peace with the Israelis, NOT the other way around.

Palestinian GDP is estimated at 2.7 Billion USD and Israeli GDP is estimated at 195 Billion USD. The fact of the matter is that Israel has simply never provided a viable ecenomic recovery plan for remaining palestinian terretories. Again I ask how you expect support for Hamas to dwindle while this is the situation.

In response to your assertion of Israeli patience,

"Israel today turned down a Palestinian offer to end attacks on civilians as the first stage of a gradual truce."

"For six weeks now there were no attacks against the Israelis, but what you have done is killed more and destroyed more,"

Israel rejects Palestinian ceasefire offer | World news | guardian.co.uk

"Tanzim, the Palestinian militia connected to Yasir Arafat's Fatah faction, was preparing to announce a unilateral cease-fire with Israel before an Israeli warplane dropped a one-ton bomb early Tuesday on a Hamas leader's home in Gaza City, Palestinian officials and Western diplomats said today."

Palestinian Cease-Fire Was in Works Before Israeli Strike - New York Times

"The UN General Assembly Friday passed resolutions declaring Israel's administration of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights illegal and calling on Israel to withdraw its forces from the West Bank."

Israeli Occupation Illegal, General Assembly Says

From a palestinian perspective how are the israelis to be trusted in the historical context? Long before Hamas obtained political power to the extent it has now it bacame obvious that Israel was not seeking a two state solution.

I realise that Hamas's rhetoric is extreme and frightening to Israelis but Hamas does not have and almost certainly never will have the means or oppertunity to fulful its stated goals, a Palestinian ecenomic recovery and boom would decimate the support base of Hamas.

'Palestine is an Islamic land... Since this is the case, the

Liberation of Palestine is an individual duty for every Moslem

'[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and

international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of

the Islamic Resistance Movement... Those conferences are no more than

a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of

Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a

waste of time, an exercise in futility.' (Article 13)

'The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and

kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the

rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind

me, come and kill him.' (Article 7)
THE COVENANT OF THE HAMAS - MAIN POINTS

Israel will not enter Gaza on foot
It is one of the most crowded areas in the world, the chances of hitting civilians is astronomical

That is a baldfaced lie. There have been rockets raining on southern Israel since Hamas ended the cease fire.

First of all if you are to contend it as a 'bold faced lie' please list your sources, second of all did you check the date and see that I was setting a historical context??

please examine sources properly or a least provide your own in such a response.

For christ's sake, preparing for a ground invasion :doh

If that is what it takes to unseat Hamas and end their ability to rain terror over southern Israel with rockets, then that is what they have to do. It isn't like they haven't been warned.

While in principle I am in agreement with this, I simply don't see any other way for the job to be done. Hopefully, this time the ISraelis won't stop halfway like they did with Hizbollah a couple of years ago.

Israel will stop and leave it unfinished.

You know it.
I know it.

Can't say i'll be missing it if Israel pulls out tbh.

Get 'em, Israel. Tear the head off Hamas and throw the corpse back into the crowd of people who sanctioned its power. Let them deal with the rot and stink of their own acquiescence to such barbaric behavior.

When ANY Nation is confronted with an enemy that refuses to adhere to a truce, but continues to permit rockets to be fired into that Nation without any let or hindrance to prevent those actions, then that Nation has not just the right but also the duty to defend itself.
Hamas repeatedly state that they refuse to accept any settlements made by previous Palestinian Governments, even though those deals were made with good intentions.
If Hamas refuse to accept previous deals, if they refuse to abide by the Truce they themselves agreed to with Israel, what can Israel do but retaliate.
Someone made the comment that the Palestinians have a much lower GDP than do the Israeli's, perhaps this would be due to the fact that the Israeli's worked hard to achieve what they have.
They educate their children in ways that benefit their nation, they do not send them to schools to read by rote from their religious book.
From before the State of Israel came into recognized being, Israelites began working the land in such a way that it was able to support not just them but also allowed for exports which helped their nation.
Palestinians conversely merely utilized the land for their herds of sheep and goats, once one stretch of land was over grazed they moved on to the next piece.
That and tending various Olive groves were virtually all that Palestinians produced.
It is not up to Israel to supply Hospitals, Schools, or any infrastructure that any halfway civilized Nation has, Palestine receives Millions of Pounds, Francs, Lira, Dollars, Roubles from a variety of Nations around the world, these monies are meant to be used to build Infrastructure not as actually happens purchase of armaments from Iran and North Korea.
