LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- At least three people were found dead after a man dressed as Santa Claus started shooting at a party in suburban Los Angeles, police said Thursday. An 8-year-old girl and a woman in her 20s were hospitalized with gunshot wounds that authorities do not consider life-threatening.

Crews took a third person to the hospital with an injury that wasn't life-threatening and wasn't caused by gunfire, according to police in Covina, a city about 22 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The shooting started around 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Absolutely disgusting. While everyone else is counting their blessings on this second most important of Christian holy days, families have to mourn such a tragic loss. My prayers are with them.

Incidents such as these are far to common.
While there is a Constitutional right for people to be able to be armed, I do not believe that that right also extends to the various types of ammunition.
So if the Obama Administration wished to control gun usage it would be relatively easy to do.
I think that something like this should be done so as to limit to some degree the ability of people to be able to purchase ammunition.
Additionally it should not be beyond the wit for a record of every gun for which ammunition is purchased, for that gun to be fired and a record of the marks made by the gun's rifling or barrel.
Those records could then be stored in a central database.
While I agree that with this type of crime at a party, the criminal is probably known, there are occasions when the person who shoots is not known.

Exactly right. I echo the sentiments here.

Give it a rest, you gun grabbers try to pick any and all opportunities to throw this garbage out, but to address the fallacies one at a time:
    1) Ammunition is protected under the second because it is an extension of the arms, banning/taxing ammunition to restrict usage IS infringement in that it inhibits the usability of the gun.
    2) Obama has a duty to uphold the constitution, any anti-second amendment infringements would be a derelection of his duty.
    3) What right do you or anyone else have to decide arbitrarily how much ammunition someone needs, or will be able to obtain?
    4) It is NOT the governments business to know anything more than a person's serial number, and even that is a concession to aid in reporting a stolen gun/crime. The burden of proof is on the state, so the onus is likewise on them. (Also, guess you've never heard of a smooth bore rifle, typically this is done aftermarket)
    5) Whether the shooter is known or not is irrelevent, these people tragically lost their lives, which would have happened apparently without a firearm, since it is obvious the attacker intended to kill. That is the story, not your sentiments on gun control.

I am sick and tired of people trying to use horrific events like these to pursue the gun control agenda, it shows a lack of respect to the victims, and the overall dialogue/intelligence of the debate. How about we mourn the victims, try to help where we can, and keep this humane, would that be too much to ask?
Neither side in an argument can find the truth when both make an absolute claim on it.

The problem here is the psycho who put on a santa suit and started killing people, not the weapon he used. This would have happened even if a blanket gun ban was in effect. Man will always find something to hurt another person with, even if it's just club made from a femur. Do you really want to live in a society that measures every tool by its potential lethality?

    Where there's a will, there's a kill.
