New York Times falls for fake Paris mayor letter
the Times said it had "violated both our standards and our procedures in publishing signed letters from our readers" because it had not verified its authenticity.

LOL. What standards?
If standards at The Red Wench were a high jump bar, an ant couldn't crawl under it.

As you so correctly stated, "What standards?"

Wow... The Red Wench gets no love... LOL.

The NYT fell for something that's now referred to as "Pulling a Palin." ;-)
Think if Sarkozy did call and she rebuffed it?

As ladahai pointed out, it's the NY Times job to vet the news. They have the time. But all their layoffs must have left them down to one copy boy and no telephone lines.

Except that the NYT has the responsibility to fully vet its sources before choosing to publish something like this.

I was joshing. Yes, you are correct, The NYT does have that obligation.

World Net Daily has higher standards than the NYT don't they?
