Emanuel talked directly to gov: source

    [quote]
Emanuel talked directly to gov: source

President-elect Barack Obama's incoming chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had a deeper involvement in pressing for a U.S. Senate seat appointment than previously reported, the Sun-Times has learned. Emanuel had direct discussions about the seat with Gov. Blagojevich, who is is accused of trying to auction it to the highest bidder.

Emanuel talked with the governor in the days following the Nov. 4 election and pressed early on for the appointment of Valerie Jarrett to the post, sources with knowledge of the conversations told the Sun-Times. There was no indication from sources that Emanuel brokered a deal, however.

A source with the Obama camp strongly denied Emanuel spoke with the governor directly about the seat, saying Emanuel only spoke with Blagojevich once recently to say he was taking the chief of staff post.

But sources with knowledge of the investigation said Blagojevich told his aides about the calls with Emanuel and sometimes gave them directions afterward. Sources said that early on, Emanuel pushed for the appointment of Jarrett to the governor and his staff and asked that it be done by a certain date.

Of course he talked with the Governor about who was to take the vacant Senate seat.
But neither you nor (apparently, at least at the moment) the general public know how those conversations went.
So until we are let into this huge secret, it falls to anyone who is rational to stop trying to second guess as well as cease muckraking.
Discuss this or indeed any case on it's known merits, leave conjecture and rumor aside.

Emanuel is most likely lying, and if not, he's not helping his case by dodging questions and appearing to be involved. Emanuel is probably on par with Blago as far as being corrupt. It's always just about who gets caught though isn't it?
Sen. Clare McCaskill (D-MO) said on Wednesday that Joe Biden "has a tendency to talk forever and sometimes say things that are kind of stupid." She seemed to regret her own words, saying, "I was probably having a Joe Biden moment myself."

None of us know what Emanuel did or did not say on those tapes.
He is not telling us, nor are the people who taped those conversations.
So how come all of a sudden you can say he is lying?
Generally in a civilized country that runs by virtue of it's laws, a person is accused of a crime, but is considered to be innocent until being found guilty in a court of law.
Now I can well believe that you find this to be wrong, that in fact any person accused of a crime or even having spoken to someone else who has been accused of a crime, is in fact GUILTY of having committed that crime.
Quite obviously you are living in the wrong country, why not go to live in say Russia, Zimbabwe, Japan, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, Communist China, there must be many other country's where the authorities think as you.

The lefties were oh so ready to hang Bush and Cheney for the "outing" of a non-agent, because they commited a "non-crime". No lack of evidence was too small to hang around the necks of the President or Vice-President. Yet here, now, we have a caught red-handed Gov. talking with Rham, and we have to "wait for the evidence of a crime".

    Amazing isn't it?
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.
