How about this kid's future!! Thanks folks!

EASTON, Pa. – The father of 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, denied a birthday cake with the child's full name on it by one New Jersey supermarket, is asking for a little tolerance. Heath Campbell and his wife, Deborah, are upset not only with the decision made by the Greenwich ShopRite, but with an outpouring of angry Internet postings in response to a local newspaper article over the weekend on their flare-up over frosting.

"I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said Tuesday in an interview conducted in Easton, on the other side of the Delaware River from where the family lives in Hunterdon County, N.J.

"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," the 35-year-old continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."

Deborah Campbell, 25, said she phoned in her order last week to the ShopRite. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son's name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

Karen Meleta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite, said the Campbells had similar requests denied at the same store the last two years and said Heath Campbell previously had asked for a swastika to be included in the decoration.

"We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate," Meleta said. "We considered this inappropriate."

The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?" he asked.

The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name." He sounded surprised by all the controversy the dispute had generated.

Campbell said his ancestors are German and that he has lived his entire life in Hunterdon County. On Tuesday he wore a pair of black boots he said were worn by a German soldier during World War II.

He said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."

Are you putting this article out here because you believe the store has the right, as a private business (ie not publicly owned government service), to refuse service to bigots who chose to name their child an idiotic name?

That poor kid. He has stupid parents.

I think he is putting out there because it is a bizarre story. Naming a kid Adolph Hitler!!!!

This dood is a liar....

"Aryan Nation" not racist my ass.

Stores should have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

I'm just relieved because I thought Godwin's Law had been used in the damn thread title.

This is why the government butts into people's personal business.

Bullseye! The point of the post is why in the hell would anyone do that to a kid? Just picture this kid's future, I mean just saying you are of German decsent gives rise to indifference and I know, I am German but I tell everyone I am Hungarian just to avoid the "all Germans are Nazis" cracks.
He better learn how to use his fists at a very young age and I'll throw out a guess that his dating and career numbers will suffer as well. Ya think?!

(Note, their one year old daughters name is Jocelyn Arian Nation Campbell)

Try reading the first line of the post before the actual story.

The store does have the right, but as he already noted, these parents are morons. They gave their children ridiculous names and they will face a lifetime of scrutiny for it. One more reason why people should have to pass a test before they are allowed to have children IMO.

The parents are not only nuts, they're abusive. Naming an innocent child after one of the most hated men ever is choosing a life of turmoil for him. It's utterly disgusting.

This kids parents should have the kid taken from them and have them forced sterilized. Then maybe they would understand what their "values" and "ideas" actually mean.

Look at this adorable kid. That's little Hitler. Poor little boy.

Saddam Hussein killed thousands of his own people using chemical weapons. Anyone who names their kid Hussein should be sterilized.

See how dumb that sounds?

I'm glad the store refused to put his name on the cake. I hope this is just the beginning of a life of frustration for the parents. What kind of parent does that to their child?

You're not comparing apples to apples on many levels. One, you didn't include Saddam's first name. It would be one thing if these loser parents named him Adolph.

Two, I don't believe anyone is more responsible for as many deaths as Hitler is.

I'm sure he was joking a bit, but lets say you actually agree with the sterlization thing.

no, just someone that names their kid Hussein shouldn't.

I would say someone that names the kid "SADDAM HUSSEIN" and does so without it being some kind of family name (Such as two white people naming their kid Saddam Hussein Campbell") should be as well. Its essentially a sentence of non-stop harassment for their kid thanks to their parents idiotic political statement and use of their kid as some kind of prop

Hussein is a very common name, there are many kings who are called like that. So this name could be a reference to one of them.
Same for Benito Mussolini: I'm not sure there are millions of Benitos in Italy but it's also a very common name.

While Adolf...especially when you add "Hitler" after...it's obviously a reference to nazism...and then when you know that his sister is called "Aryan Nation"...

I've known people named Adolph. But not Adolph Hitler.

Hussein is widely popular name in the Arab world. Jeffrey is still a popular American name despite Jeffrey Dahmer. However, anyone naming their children using both the first and last name of these murderers is abusive, IMO.

My point is that it shouldn't matter what his name is. It's his name. Let the kid have his cake for ****s sake.
