Deadly Woodburn (Oregon) Bank Bombing
Last Update: 9:21 pm
A bomb blasted through a West Coast Bank branch in Woodburn Friday evening. At least one person died; others were injured.
It happened about 5:30 p.m. Nearby residents reported hearing a loud explosion. Moments later, police cars rolled up and ambulances lined up outside the branch, located next to I-5 on Newberg Highway 214.
Amid the confusion and chaos came reports of serious injuries. Police later confirmed more than one injury, in a statement that said, "Woodburn police, with the assisatance of FBI and an Oregon State Police Bomb Technician, were investigating a suspicious device at the West Coast Bank on Highway 214 east of Interstate 5. While officers were inthe area, the device detonated, resulting in serious injuries." Later, a deputy medical examiner confirmed a death from those injuries.
This happened 20 miles north of where I live. My gf's daughter, a paramedic, was called on duty due to the seriousness of the scene and she related at least 2 deaths and several serious injuries having to be evacuated to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland Oregon.
So homegrown terrorism? Yeah, I think so. Probably someone who has a grudge against one of the banks or over the bailouts of the banks but nothing for the mortgage holders who lost their homes. More to come in the future? If things get much worse I think it's highly probable.
