Musicians protest military use of music as torture

Why did we ever have to waterboard people when there was a much better method of torture available - Barney the Dinosaur? Musicians may be protesting the use of Barney to torture our enemies, but at least, it is legal, and damn, is it ever effective.

Barney is definitely torture. I can't stand him. Play Barney music to me, and I will confess ANYTHING. Yes, I am whatever you say I am. I am a wanker. I am an asshole. I am a ham and cheese sandwich on rye. I confess. Just PLEASE turn off the Barney music.

Want to know how much I hate Barney? Years ago, I used to play Doom, and at the time, there was a patch called Barney Doom, that was probably written by someone who, as a child, was tortured by Barney's singing. After you applied the patch, the pink monster turned into Barney singing "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family", at which point, you could kill him with the chainsaw, while laughing like a maniac. Needless to say, I used the Barney Doom patch in the game. It was my favorite patch.

Want to win the war on terror? Enlist Barney, but you had better hurry and utilize him quickly before the United Nations makes it an international crime. On the other hand, maybe we should stick with waterboarding, so we don't look like crazy evil people to the rest of the world. :mrgreen:

Now we see quite clearly the problem with discussing "torture." Apparently we have idiots out that will classify simply annoying a detainee as the equivalent of torture.

How do you debate with such people? How can such a debate be waged with such sophmoric blather being involved?
 
I agree. Listening to most modern music is torture and I'm not even in a cell.

LMAO - I agree. If the music sucks, use it. I think the reason that some musicians don't want their music played to detainees is that it would show just how much their music DOES suck. :mrgreen:

I wouldn't mind; do they get license fees paid everytime the music is used, I would say play again Sam!

The ultimate torture device would be forcing detainees to listen to harsh noise ala Merzbow, C.C.C.C., Gerogerigegege, Xome or something along those lines. I actually was thinking of putting out an album with my noise project specifically for that purpose.

Why is it sad? I love most forms of metal. Even SOME Christian Metal.

It's sad because the only metal I like is like Satanic Death Metal or Black Metal.

SDM bad, Black Metal GOOD.

Although the new stuff is getting pathetic... but such is the way of music. Eventually everything will be 100% doctored and the bands won't play live because they are unable to actually perform their own songs.
