    how about NY times?

"On that day, a military coup supported by the Central Intelligence Agency achieved ''regime change'' in Chile, overthrowing the democratically elected government of Salvador Allende. Gen. Augusto Pinochet immediately converted Santiago's stadium into an internment camp, where Allende supporters were tortured and murdered."

Chile's 'Regime Change' - New York Times

    or Wiki?

"The nationalization of U.S. and other foreign-owned companies led to increased tensions with the United States. As a result, the Nixon administration organized and inserted secret operatives in Chile, in order to quickly destabilize Allende’s government.[21][22][23][24] In addition, international financial pressure restricted economic credit to Chile.
Simultaneously, the CIA funded opposition media, politicians, and organizations, helping to accelerate a campaign of domestic destabilization."

The issue is not one of dispute.

Also, from what I learned while I was living in Brazil, the leader that was toppled also wanted to reduce economic relations with the U.S., particularly in the sugar and coffee industries. This contributed to U.S. support for the coup d'état, since Brazil is a major exporter to the U.S.
Interesting thing is that I have two good survey books of Latin American history written by respected scholars of the region and none of them took such claims seriously. hmmm

He got this idea of "extended" term from his new buddy Vladmir Putin (pronounced stah-lin') Together they will make certain Cuba remains a pig stye of communism just so evil America does not intercede and offer the Cuban people a choice of government. Would'nt you think after all these years and wars that tyranny would be on the decline instead of on the upswing? Oh well, we try.
