Just because they print the news that the KMT censors won't allow printed in the China Post?

Now, even the CONTROL YUAN is going to launch an investigation into the alleged abuses of police authority in Taipei earlier this month. While not exactly independent, it is significant. Try and deny THAT!

Once again, the Taipei Times is reporting the news that the pan-Blue China Post ignores.

Here is the press release from FIDH.

You may hate the Taipei Times because it is green, but you have no justification for your claims against it. At least it reports the news. Three days in a row, it has ACCURATELY reproted news about concern into the violence of the police in Taipei earlier this month. In all three cases, the KMT censors prevented its publication in the China Post.

Seems like I hit pretty close to the mark for a certain Blue-Red apologist's comfort.

Actually, at the time of the US military intervention in question, the Dominican Republic was "under" military rule, NOT under Bosch.

There is no guarantee that democracies will never go to war with one another. But democratic countries have and continue to show strong indications of getting along with one another far better than countries with opposing ideals of government.

Sure but the army [or was it the marines?] was sent in more or less straight after the [u.s backed] military coup that removed Bosch from power as a result of the level of resistance to it. Given that the army needed the help of the american armed forces to take over the country it could be argued that they were a key part of removing Bosch from power. Ergo what you have is one democracy using force to overthrow another. The same goes for Jacob Arbenz etc. [albiet primarily via proxy]

I think that point of view has a degree of legitimacy but it misses out the economic aspect to these opposing ideals. I.E the way in which theres been a great deal of violence between liberal democracys with opossing ideals about the role of the government in the economy. For example the overthrow of a number of democratic left of center governments in Latin America by the c.i.a [despite these governments often being far more moderate then their counter parts in western europe]

U.S. Marines were sent in my President Johnson NEARLY TWO YEARS after Juan Bosch was overthrown by the Dominican military. The operation was supported by the OAS and shortly afterward, there was a democratic election in the country.

I have never seen any credible evidence that the U.S. was behind the military coup that overthrew Juan Bosch. Kinda like allegations the US CIA was behind the overthrow of Salvador Allende. The anti-U.S. activitists like to repeat it time and again, but have no evidence or facts to support their absurdity.
