Family guilds are quite common on my server. It's a real bitch for non-family/family-friend to get in one, and if you do, you had better mind your manners and stay out of the social drama.

If you're family/family-friend, though, you can get away with anything.

There was one family at this apartment complex I lived in and the dad and young son loved WoW. They spent time playing it together and talking about it more than any other parents and children when it comes to talking about anything outside. Seemed really cool for them.
I got bored of WoW but found myself playing Metin 2 lately as it is free and a point and click like diablo but with fun pvp.

I prefer family guilds actually. I fit in much better in those type guilds.

I was in 2 family guilds.

My membership in first one lasted a whole 45 seconds. I fought hard to get into it, but once in, I discovered that I had no seat in any raiding party, wouldn't probably ever, and not only could non-raiders even view the vault tabs, but they couldn't even speak in g/chat.

That's not made me quit, though, no. What made me quit was their taberd. I was sporting a Wyrmrest taberd when I got the invite. I went to Dalaran's bank to check out the guild taberd....it was pink with a ****ing hart on the chest....oh_****_no I wasn't going to wear anything like that.

The second was a friend and his brother, some people they knew and so forth. One day their wives gave birth, and they disappeared. The vault went neglected, arguments went unresolved because the only people with any authority didn't log on, so people started leaving.

One day the GM came on, we had a nice chat about real life happenings for a bit, he said he was quitting wow, gave me the guild and I haven't seen him since.

I demoted everyone I didn't summeraly kick out, liquidated almost everything in the vault and sent everything else to a friend who offered me an officership in his raiding guild, sold the charter for 1K (it had a few tabs) and took up the offer.

I didn't realize we had this many resident WoW lovers.

I haven't played since January of this year but I miss it sometimes. Pretty cool game. We were doing Naxx about then and some drama broke out among the top members and I've got better things to do, so I stopped playing.

I think my wife would literally kill me if I installed that game and kicked out the 15 per month. I don't even mention that game in this house. Forbidden.
I'm what Willis was talkin' bout.

I actually very much attribute my typing skills to my years of playing on MUDs. I've got about a 90 WPM typing speed (which is good cause I'm so damn wordy) that was pretty much honed through playing so much of a game that was all text based.

Not sure how it'd translate over to WOW where you only really type when you want to talk

I learned raiding before there was voice chat. I raided hardcore in Everquest, playing a warrior who MTed many raids. What typing ability I have comes from typing out messages while desperately trying to keep a mob in position. I certainly cannot type 90 WPM, but I can hit 30 to 40, whereas I was maybe 10ish when I started playing EQ and had to type out each letter individually with two fingers.

Man I have an incredible brain when it comes to some things. Like visualizing stuff and creating new ideas. Guessing **** before it is concluded. Being emphatic to things that are never said.
But am horrible at other things. Like punctuation besides periods. (and sometimes even those are beyond me) And thinking I sense things that aren't really there. I can brain just can't help focusing on weird **** instead of things that are so important to others.
I get irritated when someone ignores your whole comment and argument and simply focuses on a spelling error instead of fighting your content.

Oops got sidetracked and went on a tangent. I remember PvPing and typing in messages like "lol" and /hug before my prey would die. Or in a 5 man group trying to type something desperately fast before someone accidentally pulled 10 mobs because they turned around and forgot about the baddies. Luckily I went into a typing class when I was real young and now can type very, very fast. I just don't have anything good to type.
