I don't have the link yet. WaPo is reporting that U.S. intelligence intercepted the Russian Ambassador telling his superiors in 2016 that Sessions met with him about campaign related issues. If true, this would be contrary to Sessions' confirmation testimony and would be perjury.

I don't have a WaPo account. If someone has one, please post link.

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak’s accounts of two conversations with Sessions — then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Donald Trump — were intercepted by U.S. spy agencies, which monitor the communications of senior Russian officials both in the United States and in Russia. Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign.

One U.S. official said that Sessions — who testified that he has no recollection of an April encounter — has provided “misleading” statements that are “contradicted by other evidence.” A former official said that the intelligence indicates that Sessions and Kislyak had “substantive” discussions on matters including Trump’s positions on Russia-related issues and prospects for U.S.-Russia relations in a Trump administration.

Link.

If I had been betting on Trump as Putin, I would have a pile of that kind of evidence to use as this is being used. Throw it on the street and the biased segment of the mob will screech for blood. We are falling for the ploys of nonlinear way line, hook and sinker.

Flashback to June:

Comey hints that there are 'facts' we don't yet know about why Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia probe
Former FBI Director James Comey said during his blockbuster testimony on Thursday that there were "facts" the public didn't yet know about why Attorney General Jeff Sessions deemed it necessary to recuse himself from matters involving the bureau's Russia investigation.
Comey said the FBI was "also aware of facts" about Sessions that made it necessary for him to recuse himself that Comey said he couldn't "disclose in an open setting."

The probably is increasing that AG Sessions perjured himself in his Senate testimony.

Yet another Trump swamp-creature in cahoots with Moscow.

Sessions has become a liability and Trump wants him gone.

Let's say the Trump administration goes down hard, impeached, resigns, etc. Perhaps somebody in prison, others disgraced, pardons, the whole nine yards. What will you and the right on this board that have consistently denied everything as being a nothingburger say then? Won't it mean you guys don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about and that you lack judgement?

Reminds me of a scene from the television series I, Claudius with Bryan Blessed as Emperor Augustus.

Augustus learns that his daughter, Julia, was having scandalous affairs with an untold number of roman men. Augustus goes around a room of prominent roman men who were accused of sleeping with Julia and interrogating them.

When Augustus realizes the scale of the scandal he yells out: "Is there anyone in Rome who has not slept with my daughter!?"

They'll all conveniently forget the denial they were in and scream about 'libtards' and 'witch hunts'.

Oh, and perhaps some, "BUT HER EMAILS!!!!" and 'socialism' as well.

Just a guess.

I wonder if Trump has the guts to use this to push Sessions out?

The palace intrigue in this administration is beyond belief! :doh

Trump figures that Sessions blew the call to step out on Russia, which will be the excuse for the impeachment, and Sessions needs to pay for his mistake.

We're still a long way from impeachment. But the probability has seemingly taken a step up recently.

Looks like perjury.

The chatter I'm seeing is that Trump leaked this. Where is that theory coming from?

The NYT interview with the President's opinion of his appointed AG did not get the desired result, (Sessions resigning), the White House has turned up the heat. The WH needs to get rid of Sessions because in Sessions recusal, he cannot fire Mueller. As I understand the situation, DJT cannot directly fire Mueller, he must get the top person at Justice to do the deed. Sessions threw a wrench into the works by vowing to stay on the job. I believe this latest leak is directly from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Maybe the fact that Trump publicly trashed Sessions two days ago and Session didn't take the hint.

Where is the chatter coming from?

If trump did release this, why throw his own attorney general under the bus?
To appoint one that's not recused from touching Mueller, and in the interim perhaps he got to the next in command?

Plus this may add to the rationale for Trump to fire Sessions (for the reasons above).

Very possible.
