Trump takes charge: 45th president vowing 'robust' first 100 days

Quite a speech. Aggressive nationalism addressed to his supporters only. So much for healing wounds and bringing people together in unity. With added GOD!

Did Obama heal wounds, and bring people together when he said, That's what we now demand of you....

I thought he used the word "could", not "would".
I really hate when people take things out of context or deliberately distort quotes, I don't care what side they're on. It just muddies the waters, but that's probably the objective.
...and now Tweets = Truth. This gets more Orwellian every year.

Maybe it was could...but I think he couched it enough by stressing the *average*. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter.

It really sucks when you use 4 year old, outdated articles. But whatever.

Doctors opting out of Medicare has nothing to do with the service Medicare provides, but rather the rate of reimbursement. That is fixed by increasing the premium rate to increase the rate of reimbursement. But again, the reason is because costs are being artificially inflated by providers and drug companies who play the insurers off one another to drive up costs. Want to get doctors back to Medicare? Raise revenue so you can raise the reimbursement rate. Again, math. It seems to be something Conservatives have trouble with grasping.

Sure it does, it has everything to do with it...Less doc's equals less options for care, longer waits, and for the elderly, it could mean death. Oh, and how much exactly would you consider a fair premium for government insurance that I don't have a choice about?

4 years of not having to defend the people with the ideas and just point out that your side has none?

That's not easy. That's a breeze.

Think I'm wrong? Show me the bill Republicans will use to replace Obamacare by Monday after 6 years of criticisms.

Only bill they would have involves a dead duck.

Republicans had 6 years to get to work. They didn't. Now you believe they'll come up with a plan because they run things.

Oh boy.

Why don't you give it, oh, a week first, eh?

I know this is a tough week for you, snowflake.

Was this the line about nationalism that you were referencing?

"We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world -- but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first."

"America first ... Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families,”

Clearly, W has already had enough of Trump and tried to suffocate himself.

Right, but you completely ignored what I said. The solution to this problem is very easy; raise revenues. Raising revenues = raising reimbursement rate. Your "article" says the reason they are leaving isn't because Medicare's service is somehow worse than private insurers...they're leaving, as your article says, because of the reimbursement rate. That is tied directly to revenues vis-a-vis the payroll tax. So here's the solution: raise the payroll tax, eliminate private insurance, get rid of Obamacare, Medicaid and S-Chip, and have a singular payer with all the bargaining power in the market to play providers and drug companies off one another for lower rates instead of vice-versa. Why is that so terrifying to Conservatives? Don't you want to save money and eliminate redundancy?

For the second time in 16 years, a mentally challenged person won by losing.

Does that preclude that those across from the negotiating table somehow don't have their countries first?

The moment Donald Trump swears the oath of office and lifts his hand from the Bible as the 45th president of the United States on Friday, the clock begins on his first 100 days.

And within hours, the man who campaigned as an outsider vowing to shake up Washington will have his chance to start rolling back his predecessor's legacy while forging his own.

Finally! Hoping Trump will get the repairs started, but, at the very least, Obama is OUT at noon today!
you mean get the destruction of the country started, don't ya?

"...History provides ugly examples from the first half of the 20th century, when people lost faith in “politicians” and then slid into losing faith with the democratic process itself. Trump said nothing to defend the democratic process that put him in power, that led him to the stage on which he delivered his inauguration speech. He spoke just as he did on the campaign trail as a demagogue, a would-be dictator, a man who wishes to replace democracy with populism – and they are not the same things.

Starting with a thumbs-up and finishing with a fist in the air, this was an address that failed to reassure those of us who feared the worst but hoped for the best form the Trump administration. A cold day in Washington, yes, but this was chilling stuff in more ways than one. ..."

I'm not sure about that. Most of the people on Medicaid are either children, or elderly folks. The elderly folks have been paying into the system their working lives, and children can't work (obviously).

There are no payroll taxes for Medicaid. It's paid from state and federal general funds. There is nothing that requires that the recipients pay anything for benefits. And I gave a specific example (elderly immigrants) to prove my point. Go ahead and check it out and tell me I'm wrong.

Why don't you give it, oh, a week first, eh?

I know this is a tough week for you, snowflake.

Why bother?

He had already lied, reneged, and slithered away from most of his campaign rhetoric.

It will continue to get worse.

Well, apparently Trump made everybody mad with his speech ("Republicans looked shell shocked") and he failed to follow tradition by not acknowledging a higher power. So, he's off to a great start.

I guess they should all get used to getting mad and not getting what they want, instead of working for the people. I know I heard a few prayers being made, and I heard part of his speech where he mentioned God, so I'm not sure what you are talking about there.

I suggest you ask Barney Frank.

Funny because Frank was in the House of Representatives which Conservatives controlled from 1995-2007. So how would Barney Frank be able to do anything when you guys were the ones in control? That's astounding power for a House representative in the minority.

Try again.

Obamacare did exactly what it was supposed to: prove that for-profit health insurance is fundamentally flawed to its core. If they knew that already, it was because they understood the function of health insurance. Conservatives don't understand what health insurance is, or what a health insurance company does. That's why they have no plan and never will. Obamacare was their plan until Obama embraced it. Party-before-country. Always.
