Trump takes charge: 45th president vowing 'robust' first 100 days

Shouldn't it be first 97 days? He's not starting til monday is what I heard...

I wonder how many days Obama worked when you subtract the golf and vacations? And, of course, the guy rarely had anything on his thin schedule before 10 AM, so he really only worked half days. But that was good with me, the less he "worked", the less damage he did.

wow such doom and gloom.
and nothing has happened yet.

you might be in for a rough ride but the majority of people will be fine.

It never crossed my mind that you would agree. My post addressed the American mainstream.

Among other considerations....But you know that...

I love it. On the day that Obama leaves power, you're still blaming him for your party getting 6 years of not having ideas of its own.

Don't know, don't care, it's Trumps turn to be the whipping boy!

Obama's face during the speech was hilarious. The entire time Trump spoke Obama was sitting there with a pissed look on his face.

Yes, he just laid bare, before everyone, what a failure Obama has been for the people of this country.

yep that is an option yet except.
Access Denied

every doctor I talked to asked if I had Medicaid and then goes well we aren't taking that, but you are fine with my employer.
why sign people up for something they can't use?

Obviously that same problem would occur if SNAP were to offer a 75% of retail price benefit. The fix is quite easy - increase the Medicaid payment level to closer to "full retail". This can be (as your link noted) done at the state and/or federal level. The same (or at least similar) problem exists with a high deductible plan - if you can't (or won't) pay the first $X then your insurance is worthless since the insurance claim payment would be denied until the deductible was met.

Oh there were ideas...You'll see...We don't jump to your demands....How'd Obama put it so gracefully? Oh yeah, "Back of the bus" with you.

I hope my misgivings about Trump and my adamant refusal to support him turned out to be the wrong move. I'll admit it if it was.

I wish the man the best on his new journey.

The initial republicant plan was simple - repeal PPACA returning control to the several states. Once states (actually the providers and subsidized patients within them) got used to getting more "free" federal money that repeal PPACA plan lost its glow. Now we have republicants scrambling to come up with a way for the states to get even more federal "free" money but in such a way as to make it appear to be otherwise.

Trump was an advocate of single payer until he decided he was a Republican a couple of years ago. Maybe that's his "Trumpcare".

Agreed, and that is really the ultimate goal here...Forget the Obamacare, forget all the other chatter, if we can see a start to the return of reaching across the isle, then it will be better than other Presidents could achieve...Now, do I see that with the likes of Schumer, Pelosi, and the cast of dividers? Not a chance....So, I guess it is on with the name calling, the cute slogans, and stupid, childish arguments....Sigh.

How many "reach across the isle" types are there in congress on either side? Maybe a dozen? The Republicans as a party had an explicitly stated goal of blocking anything Obama tried to do during his presidency. Blocking is sometimes warranted, but an unbending policy of blocking is just dysfunctional. Now we will see what they do with total power.

For the record, though neither was perfect by any means, the dem/rep candidates I supported in the primaries were Kasich and Webb. I want people that aren't slaves to ideological checklists and litmus tests. Unfortunately gerrymandering has increasingly polarized congress and coupled with the way the primary process is dominated on both sides by extremists we are in a rough place as a country.

Trump was an advocate of single payer until he decided he was a Republican a couple of years ago. Maybe that's his "Trumpcare".

We will soon see what TrumpCare is (or is not) since that is allegedly his first legislative priority. Personally, I see this as a bad idea to make TrumpCare his first test of herding congress critters to get something passed in a bill.

It was a most bizarre 5/4 split decision - 4 against based on the commerce clause, 4 for based on the commerce clause and one for based on the 16A. If the vote were held again with the current SCOTUS it would still pass 5/3.

It was odd but it did set a precedent that healthcare is a private thing not government control.
if needed even trumpcare could be challenged if they get rid of the tax.

Did you get to vote twice?

Wonderful. There's nothing more comforting than having a real estate developer reality TV star working on healthcare and insurance.

so was mine. the American mainstream will be ok.
why should I agree with doom and gloom when nothing has happened?

Fasten your seatbelts, folks. The great ride is about to begin!

6 years to draft a bill?

Where is it? Why are they only getting to work on it now?

You know I support the Republicans in the Congress and Senate, but I have to share your disdain on this. They've been opposing the PPACA for 6 years, voting to repeal it, screaming about replacing it.....they should have had a plan to present to the American public a long time ago.

We have not heard such a speech since 1939 in another country. Essentially just another campaign speech, devoid of substance, ignorant of reality, ignorant overall. A sad, sad day.

According to j-mac, it's Obama's fault that they don't.

Boy, it really feels great just knowing that Obama is OUT of office, and no Hillary! I really hadn't expected this, since I've known he is leaving for a long time. But, it feels great to know that he is GONE!
