Yeah, any bastard who reveals the crimes of government should be hung from the yardarm. The ones who commit and enable the crimes should be decorated.
Perhaps filing a new charge?
Let's hope the new administration can reverse this.
Fortunately the President has done an otherwise great job of crushing 'whistleblowers' and the one thing I think we can say about President Trump is that he'll be just as harsh. So while this is a disappointing outcome, the wider policy shift seems to be concretely in place. A definite shift from the winds of thought in the late 1980's and 1990's.
That would be double jeopardy no?
Thanks to Obama, the President can without due process have a US citizen killed (presumably only overseas). Manning should stay in the US.
Treason is treason. Excuse it and deflect all you wish. I won't.
This is going to piss you off (and that is what makes it so awesome):
Treason is treason. Excuse it and deflect all you wish. I won't.
Double jeopardy. Due process. Equal protection. Cruel and unusual punishment.
Can't be done.
We should have hung the bastard in the first place.
It would have to be totally unrelated to the charges he was convicted for in order to pass double jeopardy. That seems unlikely. There also isn't another sovereign in this case as there are no state offenses he could be charged with.
Nah, not really. It's just the kind of stuff children post because they think its cool. It's like wearing an anti-flag shirt, lol. Doesn't really bother me.

Too bad he cant. Not even Donald "lock her up" Trump does not have that power.
"“The Constitution provides that the President "shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offences against the United States, except in cases of impeachment."
The power thus conferred is unlimited, with the exception stated. It extends to every offence known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment. This power of the President is not subject to legislative control. Congress can neither limit the effect of his pardon, nor exclude from its exercise any class of offenders. The benign prerogative of mercy reposed in him cannot be fettered by any legislative restrictions." https://scholar.google.com/scholar_...7&q=Murphy+v.+Ford&hl=en&as_sdt=6,48&as_vis=1
Please explain to me how revealing the crimes of government to the public is treason. Right off, that does not comply with the definition contained in Article III Section 3 of the US Constitution.
I won't hold my breath troop.
Sure it does, otherwise you wouldn't have replied. At least I have the balls to admit how bothersome I find your political ideologies.
Perhaps filing a new charge?
Manning better become passable real soon, because his life is going to be pretty short if the right people recognize him.
That would be double jeopardy no?
Double jeopardy.
I don't know what your political philosophies are. They've changed dramatically since the primary and now seem pretty incoherent. I more or less assume you're still discovering for yourself, which is ok and admirable. So no, it really doesn't bother me.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
