GM to invest $1 billion in U.S. after pressure from Trump

General Motors said today it will invest an additional $1 billion at several plants in the U.S., a move that comes just a week after President-elect Donald Trump's latest tweet critical of the automaker's Mexican car production.

Donald Trump continues to do more before he's even been elected than Obama has done in 8 years. :peace

The automaker also said it plans to bring thousands of information technology jobs back to the U.S. from overseas, creating a total of 7,000 new jobs in the U.S. when the IT jobs and new manufacturing jobs are combined.

b...b....b....but....the liberals said all these manufacturing jobs were for the low-skilled and uneducated? How can I.T. jobs be coming back from overseas?

GM also said it will begin work on bringing axle production for its next generation full-size pickup trucks in the U.S., including work previously done in Mexico, to plants in Michigan, creating 450 U.S. jobs.
Obama said these jobs would never come back???? You mean he was a liar?

AGain why do you really think that in one week, GM can plan $1 billion worth of spending?

1. Private enterprises are more efficient than the government. Most liberals don't realize this. It's easy to plan $1 Billion.

2. Even if it wasn't planned in just a week, many corporations have been sitting on record amounts of cash and refused to spend it because Obama created an environment that was openly hostile to investment in America. However his policies rolled out the carpet for corporations that were willing to outsource.

GM desperately wanted to invest in our country and now that Obama is leaving they're going to do so. It's easy to do these types of deals when the government isn't bending over backwards to prevent companies from investing.

Actually private enterprises especially those the size of GM can be amazingly inefficient and full of bureaucracy. And in addition it i snot easy t plan out $1 billion of spending, there are so many variables and things that need to be considered that it has most likely been in the works for years. A company no matter how efficient cannot plan that kind of spending in a week, well unless they want to just light it on fire.

no. They had the plans in place. However they didn't want to do it until after Obama left office because Obama hates American companies.

LOL.. You mean Obama hates GM, the company he help bail out in 2009?

I'm to the point where IDK if Cons like you are always trolling, or just brainwashed and uninformed.

He's not a very serious argument maker, is he?

Yes, he hates GM. But bailing them out sure did look good to those union backers didn't it? And it's not like he used his own money, he used taxpayer dollars to buy political favors.

No. he's not. IDK how people can hate to the point that when they try to make an argument they just come off as uninformed. It makes them look foolish. But they don't seem to care.

Google should be their friend, but it doesn't seem to be. lol

Oh well.

Exactly. I would wager that it would have been at least 1-2 years in the planning, so sorry, but Trump had nothing to do with this one.

Which GM paid back. LOL

And those millions Trump promised Carrier? Was that Trump's money? Who's money was that? Will we be getting that back?

I'm done. My God.

It belonged to the people in the state of Indiana and was duly given as appropriately negotiated by the Governor of Indiana. You don't seem to know tht Trump can't give away state money. Perhaps you should educate yourself on the issues? I accept your concession. Best to surrender while you're behind.

Jesus Christ. One of the best examples I've seen of the outright cognitive dissonance of a Trump supporter. Literally bashing Obama for supporting a company that helped save tens of thousands of american jobs because he gave them a bailout that was paid back but doesn't care that Trump handed out tax breaks to a company so that they would only send a thousand jobs over seas instead of 2000.

Can'e wait to see Rino's response.

And again, Trump didn't give Carrier anything. Perhaps you would like to surrender as well?

OP Article said:
...more than $21 billion GM has invested in its U.S. operations since 2009.
Thank you President Obama

In 2015, GM announced plans to invest $8.3 billion in the U.S. over a four year period while adding 3,300 jobs as it negotiated a new four-year contract with the UAW.
Thank you President Obama and UAW

He supported giving them to Carrier. He took credit for the deal. If you don't want him to have credit then take it up with him. The facts are that you are perfectly fine with he government helping companies, but only if a republican gets credit for it.

Trump has no control over state money, despite you thinking he has unlimited deific powers. I don't care what he takes credit for, the facts are Trump didn't give Carrier anything. You've made a false statement. It's not too late for you to surrender.

Yep, same thing with the Ford announcement a couple weeks ago. Trump and his supporters were falling all over themselves taking credit for the Ford announcement to invest some money here, and keep some jobs here. But in the same article it mentioned that since 2010 Ford US workforce has almost doubled.

I'm all for keeping jobs and investment here. But the problem is the Republicans refuse to be fair. They only want to credit a Republican when jobs are saved. When Obama does it they call it 'political favors'. lol

And it shows...

Union leadership supported Hillary, but the Union employees supported Donald Trump.

Manufacturing has been decimated because of unfair free trade deals. The employees get hurt but the leadership of the unions is unaffected so they don't care. That's why the Union Leadership supports more free trade, because they won't lose their jobs no matter what happens.

The union leadership isn't affected? I do believe they get paid by the same company do they not? I've dealt with union leaders and they are JUST as affected as the company and the workers. You don't know **** about unions.

The union leadership supports getting jobs out of the U.S. which is why they overwhelmingly supported Hillary Clinton even though the union employees were not so enthusiastic.

obama was a huge liar and a terrible President.

Like all these other companies, they had plans in the works and contingency plans....all on hold waiting for the outcome of the election.

With Trump they are encouraged and have abundant expectancies!

For the Left, they have to have a boogieman, strife and pain, in order for their agenda to work.
