President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law with the goal of “insurance for everybody,” while also vowing to force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices in Medicare and Medicaid.Trump declined to reveal specifics in the telephone interview late Saturday with The Washington Post, but any proposals from the incoming president would almost certainly dominate the Republican effort to overhaul federal health policy as he prepares to work with his party’s congressional majorities.
Trump’s plan is likely to face questions from the right, after years of GOP opposition to further expansion of government involvement in the health-care system, and from those on the left, who see his ideas as disruptive to changes brought by the Affordable Care Act that have extended coverage to tens of millions of Americans.
In addition to his replacement plan for the ACA, also known as Obamacare, Trump said he will target pharmaceutical companies over drug prices.

So its not going to be single payer but everyone is going to be covered? Is there going to be a public option then? Any how, a more accurate headline would be, "Offering No Details, Trump Vows "Insurance For Everybody."". Im guessing, as usual, this is more bull**** from Trump.

I'm willing to bet it's the kind of "insurance for everybody" Paul Ryan and many others in the GOP want which is more accurately "insurance for everyone who can afford it", often carrying the wank-off phrase "universal access". I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see Trump or his merry band of GOP actually implementing UHC. That would completely fly in the face of their main ideological tenets to suck corporate **** and not give a **** about the poor.

In about 5 minutes he'll likely change his position 180 degrees anyway.

Everybody covered, lower deductibles, simplified, much less expensive, and much better!

lol, so he's announcing that his goal is "insurance for everyone", and you, are butt hurt about it?

It's because Trump's plan will most likely be private insurance that people have to pay for instead of Single Payer, Government run, controlled, dictated and paid for. Also, if Trump and the GOP actually put a better plan out there that works to any degree better than the ACA it could gravely harm the Progressives political chances.

Right, it'll be more like 'insurance offered to anyone'.

I wish he really had a plan to keep coverage for all at a lower cost like he's been touting but I am afraid the plan will be cost prohibited for most who fall below middle class income ( like I fear Paul Ryan's plan would be )

Come on...you've seen the leftists since his election win. New jobs announced...they **** themselves over the type of jobs or the efforts to save or bring in jobs. Initiatives to help inner cities and they **** themselves over his pandering to black people. Announcing that the replacement plan will still cover people and they **** themselves over that as well. This will be the next 4 years. No matter what he does the leftists will **** themselves over it. At some point we just have to be able to recognize...leftists really really love ****ting themselves.

Do you recognize that the costs under the ACA have also become prohibitive and that something HAS to change?

Trump also claimed his private investigators had a bombshell on Obamas BC, sorry Comrade Trump, you have zero credibility.

Remember “You can keep your doctor”? What makes you assume this unsupported statement will be any different?

I have said before that health insurance does not need to be the big complicated thing that ACA became.
It could be as simple as the government requiring the companies bidding on the civil service employee insurance contract,
to provide unnamed policies at the government group rate.
If someone cannot get private insurance, they will be able to buy the same policy that civil service employees buy
through the government. It would be higher than the employees subsidized rate, but much lower than the individual policy rate.

It'll probably mean less government control of the private sector. That"s why Liberals don't like it.

The Libbos said their was no way President Trump could win yhe election.

And yet that, by definition, is NOT "insurance for everybody."

Umm... we're making fun of the fact that Trump is telling republicans to expect single payer benefits, because the republican ideology has been ****ting its pants over that idea for decades.

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the healthcare industry.

No they haven't. Are you confused? It made insurance affordable for millions of Americans who would have otherwise been uninsured.

But what does 'insurance for everybody' specifically mean? That we all get it period courtesy of the taxpayer? Or that the government will take measures to encourage competition to get costs down so that everybody can afford insurance with it being provided to the truly helpless? This would likely necessitate allowing people that want to buy cars and Iphones and other toys instead of paying for insurance to incur the consequences of those choices. And I don't have a problem with that.

Well, here are the monthly premiums for self-only coverage under FEHBP plans available in Texas:

Aetna 1Aetna 2Aetna 3Aetna 4Humana 1Humana 2Humana 3Humana 4Humana 5Humana 6Humana 7S&W 1S&W 2United 1United 2
$480.22$965.49$554.80$612.89$655.33$637.61$652.60$773.34$794.061330.90$1171.76$678.47$759.50$945.73$433.07

Meanwhile, a quick browse of healthcare.gov for Houston finds that a 40-year-old can choose from:
Bronze plans (7 options)Silver plans (11 options)Gold plans (8 options)
$231.29 - $369.98$270.21 - $465.07$325.58 - $553.42

So it's not necessarily the case that being able to buy into the federal employee benefits means you'll find lower premiums than what's already available in the marketplaces.

No they haven't. Are you confused? It made insurance affordable for millions of Americans who would have otherwise been uninsured.

It made insurance for a few by making everyone else pay higher premiums. That is countrr-productive. It's why your side has been sidelined.
