This kinda reminds me of an experience I've had.
I was the one who ended up with a job in a military base (despite my lack of experience compared to other applicants, and the only one without any "backer").
Being young and dozey.....at the interview, I even volunteered watching Hill Street Blues as the only thing close to experience that I had. :lol:


It was explained to me eventually by my boss why I got the job.
I got the job because I didn't have any "backer." He didn't want anyone with a "backer".......he wanted to make sure the one hired has no divided loyalties.
