Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district[W:195]

Re: Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district

The issue is Lewis taking up the banner of the far left on the illegitimacy issue and being called on his priorities.

Get ready ready for 1/2 to 3/4 of the country criticizing your every move. You can't tweet insults to everyone, you'll never get the job done.

You won by the skinniest of margins, did not win the popular vote and already 60% of America disapproves of what you are doing. Respect that, respect yourself, respect your country. Grow up, stop playing with your twitter and do your job. Until you start doing your job, the 60% that regrets you in office will grow to 70... and when it gets to 70, your done. Republicans, you need to respect that fact that you won on points, you have divided country not a mandate.

Priorities? Wow! How ironic is that? Lewis is a congressman. He not the mayor of Atlanta. He is not responsible for its economic well being, and as a minority member of congress, has very little leverage to help. Blaming him for that exposes how ignorant you are, Donald, about our government. Stop exposing your ignorance as it weakens America.

On the other hand, the Donald has to prepare to be President... the least prepared president we have ever elected. He doesn't have the time, nor should he care what John Lewis thinks or says. That is not presidential behavior. Grow up and be president or give to someone that can do the job.

Trump said he would not accept a rigged election that included the democrats stuffing ballot boxes

Liberals/progressives/dems are refusing to accept the will of the people

Actually, its Republicans that refuse to accept the will of the people. He did not win the vote, he won the process. He has not shown any respect for the fact that only 27% of America voted for him and lost the popular vote.

Well, clearly he has the will of the Russian elite that likely pushed him over the finish line.

I blame Lewis using the voters in his district as mere stepping stones who he used to reach a rich and easy job in Washington

Which is what he did is doing if he does not have any responsibility for the condition of his people

Trump won a majority of the votes in a majority of the states

I think the left is drifting toward open rebellion against the Constitution and I'm glad that trump has the law and executive power deal with them if we have a 2nd civil war

Re: Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district

What exactly was childish? Trump in turn challenged Lewis on his record in serving his constituents. Granted, Trump can't always react the way he does. But would you have found a similar tweet about Lewis from Kellyanne Conway acceptable?

Childish is having to respond to every criticism with petty insults. That is a thing a child does. His tweet about Meryl Streep was quintessential childishness. Why should he care what Meryl Streep says or does? She is irrelevant. But she publicly admonished him and pierced his thin skin. He could not help himself... he just had to respond and do so with insults and insolence. This is not presidential behavior. He doesn't have the time for this. The real criticism has yet to start.... if he panics over the few random shots in the night, how is he going to be in the war that starts on Friday?

If he wants Kellyanne to carry out his childish antics that would at least show good delegation skills and pivot toward do the serious business. Kellyanne, however, has too much class for such antics.

Why would he need to show any respect to losing the popular vote? The popular vote is irrelevant, it is the equivalent of keeping up with the number of hits a team had in a baseball game.

He has on several occasions stated that he wanted to be the President for all Americans and to try to heal the current divide in this country and yet a large group on the left refuse to even sit down and discuss issues they have. If anyone needs to be showing respect it is those that refuse to accept the outcome of the election.

As for the thread topic, I don't like the fact that Trump keeps attacking the cities these people represent (Chicago, Atlanta). I find it as distasteful as Obama did with comments about the South. I really wish he would stop that, if he is going to retaliate it should be against the person that makes the comment and not the people they represent.

Re: Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district

A couple of months ago when it was thought that Trump might not accept the results of the election, democrats went insane and envisioned an end to democracy as we know it. Along comes a liberal congressman calling the president elect illegitimate and those same liberals are silent. John Lewis should resign from congress. The man is a disgrace, an embarrassment and an idiot.

This is nothing but the dems plan for Trump! Deny, Dispute, and Destroy!
Slimy politics at the very worst!

Re: Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district

Trump is right

Lewis' district is 60% black

So we have protests , shootings , muggings , looting , curfews , the National Guard present , but if you look past that , not a bad place to raise a family !

TRUMP won and will be the President for the next 4 year! Please get over it!
The comments Lewis made were WRONG! He needs to apologize today.

And john Lewis in Washington making a fool of himself on their behalf

What more could progressives ask for?

...and, he did not win the majority of the votes in America. It is his job to create the reconciliation between winning the electoral vote and losing the popular vote. and, then we yet know how much of his victory can be attribute to Wikileaks and Moscow... its very plausible it flipped the 42,500 votes in the 3 states.

His cabinet selections were a step in the opposite direction of reconciliation. He has an approval rating of about 40%, lowest in history for a POTUS elect and he hasn't done a thing. It is more likely to fall than rise. He falls 10 points in that category and he becomes toxic and is done as a president.

Why does he need to apologize? I don't like his comments, but the man has a right to his own opinion.

He is a member of Congress! Needs to apologize now! He is trying to disenfranchise millions of voters across the country.

Again, he has a right to his own opinion and has no need to apologize. If he were rallying people around him then you would have a point. There is nothing wrong with stating his opinion and right not to attend to inauguration.

Trump won the election based on in the US Constitution

That's all that matters

To attack trump for winning more electoral votes is an attack on the Condtitution itself

Re: Trump to John Lewis: Fix your ‘horrible’ Atlanta district

No, but I thought those people were being stupid, too.

Of course they were, but that was a years long, sustained attack on the legitimacy of Obama's presidency, INCLUDING a BIG ROLE by the POTUS elect. Of all the people in the world who can't bitch about attacks on his legitimacy, Trump is near the top of the list.

And it wasn't just the birther crap with Trump. Here's a series of tweets after the 2012 election. Not the call for "revolution" and "This election [for Obama] is a total sham and a travesy."

So it's incredible that Trump supporters forgot this recent history, both with the sustained birther crap, and Trump himself repeatedly calling the legitimacy of Obama's win into question and calling for a "revolution."

Do you have a link for those quotes?

It's true that the rules of the game were to win the most EC votes, and Trump did that. But when Obama won, and Trump mistakenly thought won fewer votes, he attacked the EC and called for "revolution." Now, when people use the same arguments Trump used to attack the EC and Obama's win, it's an attack on the Constitution itself.

Is Trump psychologically capable of not responding in a whiny manner to someone who talks ill of him?

Trump calls Atlanta district a ‘horrible’ and ‘crime infested’ place | Political Insider blog

A horrible district, you say? Just take a look at the hahr-uh-ble, hahr-uh-ble city of Atlanta!

What a hahr-uh-ble, hahr-uh-ble district!

He is telling a man to do more for this country, and the man he is talking to was beaten, tear gased, and arrested because he put himself at risk for the civil rights of people. This is reminiscent of the Khan family who said Trump has sacrified nothing and no one. Trump has more financial conflicts of interest than any president in history, and he his having sacrificing NYC for the White House. Trump is an absolute joke. He doesn't deserve being taken seriously.
