This hits home. I have flown in and out of that airport dozens of times, and had family that flew out yesterday.

My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

Shooter has military ID as Esteban Santiago. Eyewitnesses say he had a rifle and yelled "I'm not Jewish"-- <shrug>. Thus far 5 dead 8 wounded.

TSA reports a shooter (possibly a second shooter). It maybe an after-panic.

Esteban Santiago has been identified as the gunman who opened fire at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to Senator Bill Nelson of Florida. Nelson told MSNBC that Santiago had a military ID and handgun with him when he shot up the baggage claim, killing several people and wounding more.

I'd caution everyone to take any and all reports on this with a grain or two of salt. We can be sure of one thing right now and that is that something is happening at the airport. I'd be especially skeptical of any reports which identify a shooter. The first reports of that type are almost always wrong and, in some cases, have caused a whole lot of trouble for innocent people.

The older I get, the more I start practicing that old wives' myth about not getting in the water for a half hour to an hour after eating. Not because I believe it, it just seems like a genuinely nicer thing to do than to jump in the water after having eaten.

Maybe you should do the same when it comes to shootings and talking about gun control?

At least wait like, an hour after the bodies finally start getting cold.

Again, it just seems nicer to wait until people are finally dead and we know exactly what happened before we start talking about gun control.
