US says Chinese warship seized Navy underwater drone

I feel like some people in this thread want to push the button over a piece of metal. Am I reading this right?

What is the right course of action to do after China steals a drone?

The best response is to hit the Chinese where it hits either diplomatically or economically

After 8 years in office Obana should know where those pressure points are

But I guess he doesent

I forgot to put "Trump" in the thread title so it would get fifteen pages of comments. :doh Next time. :2wave:

Maybe he or Trump won't have to. The country's financial system seems to be imploding. It's like a rush to the exits as Chinese attempt to move money out of the country. I think they sense something has gone horribly wrong. And then there's our secret weapon, Janet Yellen, who's doing more damage to China than all twelve of our aircraft carrier battle groups combined could inflict on the country.

To Problems With China’s Financial System, Add the Bond Market

You asked if they did something illegal. The answer is yes they broke international law with what they did. It's not simply what the US deems illegal it's what pretty much the rest of the world deems illegal. The bigger question is why do you seem to be China breaking international law.

I don't believe that international law actually exists, but beyond that, we steal crap all the time. We hardly have clean hands in the victim of the month club. It is certainly not worth escalating the situation of that glider was really doing what they said it was doing. We paint these boats white and put civilians on them so that they can enter waters the warships cannot. I can certainly understand if they have concerns about whether they are really doing what they say they are doing or if they are using these vessels for electronic spying.

We didn't declare war when they stole an airplane so...

Would this be the plane that declared an emergency and entered their airspace and landed at their airfield that they "stole"

If trump were president he would not have let the Chinese get away with it the way our enemies have been doing for 8 years against obama

Right! Trump would have shaken his fist, tweeted a tweet, then said, "Oh, hell, just keep the thing. We don't want it back."

I doubt that

But it would still be better than obama begging the Chinese to give it back

Although the Navy is so weak thanks to obama that we might not be able to beat the chinese anyway

It may take years for trump to fix what obama has broken

So, what do you see Trump doing?
Didn't he already say that they could keep the thing?

I interpreted that as an implied threat that the chinese would be wise to take seriously after trump is commander in chief on jan 20

Trump's statements often require some interpreting by his supporters before they sound reasonable.

trump's statements and his supporters are always reasonable. It's the out of control msm that misinterprets his comments.

So they made an emergency landing, entered their airspace, and didn't steal the plane at all, so that is relevant to this how?

The kept the plane for months as they dissected it.

No doubt they disassembled this drone also.

Maybe they just wanted to see how many parts were printed with "made in China."

Is there something illegal about what they did?

Good question. If you accept the fact that the entire South China Sea belongs to to China then they did the right thing. If you accept that it is international water then then maritime law says they were pirates.

You believing something or not really has zero effect on that reality. With that said you trying to move the goalposts now is rather obvious. The discussion was if China did something illegal. It has nothing to do with if the US has done something illegal at some point in the future.

So do you have some links to the US stealing stuff all the time as you claim. Or any of the other nonsense you are claiming.

So somehow it's the US fault that the Chinese pilot crashed into their plane. Give me a break.

Why do I get the feeling that if the roles were reversed your felling would be quite different.
