Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama has ordered a full review into hacking by the Russians aimed at influencing US elections going back to 2008, the White House said Friday.
"The President has directed the Intelligence Community to conduct a full review of what happened during the 2016 election process. It is to capture lessons learned from that and to report to a range of stakeholders," White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser Lisa Monaco said at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast with reporters Friday. "This is consistent with the work that we did over the summer to engage Congress on the threats that we were seeing."

White House spokesman Eric Schultz added later that the review would encompass malicious cyber activity related to US elections going back to 2008.

I rather doubt that the source material for this investigation (various system logs, thousands of them each containing millions of lines of text / data) are available anymore. It's just to costly to keep those types of records, exabytes of storage, for that long.

So what is this investigation going to be based on?
What are they going to review to determine if Russians have been hacking elections all along?
Or are they just going to make **** up? (as usual)

Obama should publicly disclose the intel we had on Saud involvement in 9-11, but Obama hates America so of course he won't.

no, he doesnt hate america. you need to think about why you would make that up.

Good. After the results are published and reviewed by outside sources (that is if he declassifies the results), maybe, just maybe, we can move on past this and/or take any needed actions to stop it from happening again - both the potential for external interference if it really happened, and prevent either party from using this as an excuse to deny the results of an election.

It would be good to know, what the reality is. Do you think the administration would try to cover up? On such a controversial issue that would be a rare tidbit.

We will be able to tell by whether the information is totally inclusive and declassified. If they say they can't release information because it's classified, then they will have not found the evidence they need to prove their claim.

Why'd you carry over that CNN font?

Anyway ...
Monaco said the administration would be mindful of the consequences of revealing the results of their review publicly, and Schultz said they will make public "as much as we can."
"You want to do so very attentive to not disclosing sources and methods that would impede our ability to identify and attribute malicious actors in the future,"
The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, California Rep. Adam Schiff, praised the administration for its move and called on the White House to declassify as much as it could.

selective disclosure ... what could possibly be wrong with that.

I seriously doubt Obama would give a rats ass about the Russians if Clinton won. Hopefully congress tells Obama to piss off.

You think Obama doesnt have the power to order the FBI and CIA to investigate? Also, key to note that Obama has some key GOP Congress people on his side on this one...

It's hilarious how liberals are more interested in how they were hacked than the DNC corruption the hack revealed.
"Corruption" as in a DNC staff people voicing their opinions but then never acting on said opinions?

Congress controls the purse strings and can deny funding for those investigations.

Also, key to note that Obama has some key GOP Congress people on his side on this one...

Yes a handful of RINOs who don't want a even bigger RINO as president,so they are going out of their way to try to help Clinton win.Which kind of has me wondering if they are even a bigger RINO than Trump.

Good luck with that. If you think Congress can pass something to stop an investigation that is using already budgeted money, thats just silly.

I disagree with them, therefore RINO! :lamo

Luckily enough people across the country disagreed with your assessment. DWS was strongarmed into stepping down because of the questions of neutrality the leaked emails raised. She was shouted down at a DNC convention in protest to how she acted during the primary. It may not rise to corruption but there is proof DWS had her preferred pick and did not treat Hillary and Sanders the same.

It's a freaking miracle. Democrats want to discuss cyber security all of a sudden.

LOL.

So why was Debbie Wasserman Shultz fired? Why was the DNC feeding debate questions to CNN for Bernie and Trump?

Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House

"The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter.

Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances.

“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”"

The President-elect has just attacked US Intelligence agencies, in an attempt to defend Russia.

For real.

LOL.

That has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

You should read the Podesta emails. It isn't from the DNC server but it exposed a lot of corruption. I bet heads roll because of Wikileaks. That reminds me. I was going to buy a Wikileaks t-shirt and coffee mug.
