President-elect Donald J. Trump on Tuesday fired one of his transition team’s staff members, Michael G. Flynn, the son of Mr. Trump’s choice for national security adviser, for using Twitter to spread a fake news story about Hillary Clinton that led to an armed confrontation in a pizza restaurant in Washington.
The uproar over Mr. Flynn’s Twitter post cast a harsh spotlight on the views that he and his father, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, aired on social mediathroughout the presidential campaign. Both men have shared fake news stories alleging that Mrs. Clinton committed felonies, and have posted their own Twitter messages that at times have crossed into Islamophobia.

But their social media musings apparently attracted little attention from Mr. Trump or his transition team before a North Carolina man fired a rifle on Sunday inside Comet Ping Pong, which was the subject of false stories tying it and the Clinton campaign to a child sex trafficking ring.
Hours after the episode, the younger Mr. Flynn, 33, went on Twitter to say that until “Pizzagate” was proved false, it remained a story.

On Tuesday morning, after the post had attracted national attention and it was reported that Mr. Flynn had a transition team email address, Vice President-elect Mike Pence denied that Mr. Flynn had ever worked for the team, saying on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he had “no involvement in the transition whatsoever.”

Well Pence is caught in a lie... But.. Finally the right move was made by the Trump team... But when Trump tweets bull**** nothing happens. He just sends out his press team to deny and deny until the next story comes along.

Wow, Trump fired someone for screwing up. Obama never fired anyone after numerous screw ups in his office. Trump is proving to be better than Obama in pretty much every way.

you got that right....lol

Was he the one who claimed Trump created 50,000 jobs from investments announced in October?

He got fired for getting caught, not for what he did.

Obama fired lots of people...including that guy's dad. :)

He got fired for getting caught, not for what he did.

What kind of distinction is that? He was fired for what he did. If they didn't catch him doing it, how would they have known to fire him? He wasn't fired, by the way. He resigned seconds before he was fired. Same kind of stupid distinction.

His dad will be lucky if he keeps HIS position. He showed poor judgment hiring his son to assist him. This isn't the first time the jamoke has tweeted conspiracy theories. He's hopeless, dad. Get him off your back.

Same kind of distinction?
I know you don't have it, but my following comment and query is in-general to the discussion.

Where is the actual information saying he was fired, or actually resigned over it.
Thus far it has been completely absent and only unnamed sources were cited. Unnamed sources is basically the same standard used in the Pizzagate story to claim fake news.

Seems like this hypocrisy on the News organization's part until it has been verified.

The son of Lt.-Gen. Michael T. Flynn, Donald Trump’s pick to be national security adviser, Michael G. Flynn, resigned from the Trump transition team Tuesday, CBS News’ Major Garrett reported.

He offered his resignation when it became clear that he was becoming a significant distraction and his position helping his father was no longer tenable.

Flynn the younger was given the distinct impression that his tweets on fake news had become problematic and the transition did not intend to expend the energy or political capital necessary to defend him.

He did scheduling things for his father and other tasks, but senior transition ‎officials don’t know the extent of his work for his father. But he had quickly become a problem that was going to be solved immediately: he resigned before he was fired. Possibly seconds before, Garrett reported.

Michael Flynn's son resigns from Trump transition team - CBS News

It's from CBS News. I sure don't know what our country is going to do if we can't accept that major respected news sources are vetting their stories. I understand, though.

I wonder if Trump told them they had to stop spreading unsubstantiated conspiracy theories and Flynn's head exploded from the hypocrisy...but I will give credit where credit may be due. If they did push him out for this, it was a great move for combating the credibility being given to these false stories by members of our highest office's team.

It's nice to see Trump creating accountability for spreading fake stories. Will he be doing the same for this tweet any time soon?
