Trump Allies Raise Doubts About Mitt Romney Leading State Department

The Israelis, who are the for which the Neo-Cons support, say Iran is not working on a nuclear weapon.

However, Trump is a slave to the "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" crowd, and he will be forced to find any excuse to attack Iran. Maybe even a false-flag.

Which will lead to Hezbollah launching all of its missiles on Israel, causing a new Middle East War.

Which is exactly what Likud wants, based on the PNAC policy and "A Clean Break".
 
All the other crap aside, I think Romney would do well as a Secretary of State. If you go back and look at his public positions on foreign policy from 2012 he looks absolutely prophetic.

The problem is their history. There IS a way around that. Romney cant apologize and have any credibility. I dont thinK Trump can apologize or say he was wrong. IF Trump decides to call him to the position they should appeasr together and both state there are many things they have philosophical differences with but Romney is the best person for the job and he will do the right thing for the country. The end.

People forget too quickly that during the 2008 campaign Hillary and B-Rok said pretty much the exact same things about each other that Trump and Romney said. It happens.

Thats all still a big 'if'.

Romney has credibility in the foreign policy arena. He was right on every foreign policy issue. He would do a good job.

I don't think he has the backbone or ability to be ruthless. In his debates he never went for the throat when he had the chance. It is almost like he is TOO nice.

He is at least able to verbalize the actual threats the country faces. And I highly doubt you become successful to his level without backbone.

Again...purely speculative. No way of knowing just who will be chosen.

Nevertrumpers should not be last on list. Trump should put the best people in the places they can be the most effective. The campaghin is over and its time to put petty grudhes aside and start doing the nations buisiness. Lets not be like the democrats and put politics ahead of good policy and strong leadership.

Mitt would be awesome for this job, but he lead a pretty impressive campaign against Donald. I would be more likely to let Mitt go to pasture where he belongs.

I personally feel Mitt was following the establishment and the wishes to protect it. Not sure those were his true feelings or do you believe he would show up in Manhattan?

OH MY GOD! If that was actually written by Mitt Romney then I take back a lot of what I said about him. Most public apologies ooze insincerity and going through motions. More of an "I'm sorry for whatever it was that offended you, I hope you get well soon".

That apology reads like an honest to God apology. It may not be sincere, because I think Romney is a scumbag. Even if it's phoney it is certainly well written and reads as sincere. If Romney is faking then he's got me fooled. I now think Romney does deserve a shot at a position in the Trump White House. Yes, this is me doing a complete 180 on saying "NEVER ROMNEY".

Ya, I was taken back a bit myself. I want to believe he is faking for some reason...but I am with you...it reads like legitimate apology.

I don't know what romney really thinks but he did everything he could to keep trump from getting elected and throw the election to hillary

That is unforgivable

I think he might make a competent sec of state - under a different president.

And he is definately soft around the edges and might not be tough enough to deal with our advisaries
