Denver becomes first US city to allow pot in bars, restaurants | Fox News
DENVER – Denver has approved a first-in-the-nation law allowing people to use marijuana at bars, restaurants and other public spaces such as art galleries or yoga studios.

The catch: Patrons could use pot as long as it isn't smoked and the locations would have to seek the approval of neighbors.

Denver voters approved Proposition 300 as eight other states legalized marijuana for medical or recreational purposes last week. The Denver vote was so close that it took an entire week for supporters to claim victory and opponents to concede.

"It's the sensible thing to do," said Emmett Reistroffer, a Denver marijuana consultant and campaign manager for the pot-in-bars measure. "This is about personal responsibility and respecting adults who want to have a place to enjoy cannabis."
Good on them. Gonna have to take some PTO and head to Denver..

This just in, buffets in Denver all filing bankruptcy!

 The last thing I need to do in a restaurant is light one up. I'll be ordering the whole damn menu!

From the article:

"The catch: Patrons could use pot as long as it isn't smoked and the locations would have to seek the approval of neighbors."

I would guess lots of the neighbors are going to say no!

One assumes the restaurant can ban smoking. If peopleare taking edible pot there, then who cares?

The non buffet places will love it.

Their desert and app menu just became huge....make that....YUUUGE....money makers.

The interesting quote from the article was, "This is about personal responsibility and respecting adults who want to have a place to enjoy cannabis."

Some people have a hard enough time with "personal responsibility" when it comes to alcohol. While I have no problem with personal use of pot. It seems this will just add to law enforcements work load. More drivers driving under the influence. I doubt many pot users know how much they can smoke/eat before they hit the CO limit.

At least Colorado law contains a limit of THC one can have in your blood to be deemed under the influence. One reason AZ law failed. It had no such provision to define under the influence.

Great, Green Dragon concoction. Then driving. What could go wrong?

A lot less, in my experience, than goes wrong with Jack Daniels and then driving...

We now add reefer as a means to drive impaired. It is time to add another booger to this nose, free crack for everyone!!

No instead we need to ban anything that affects the mind, that's the ticket

You can't light up a joint. Most bars and eateries I've been to do not allow you to bring in your own food. I see the ultimate goal is for bars to be able to sell you pot fries or restaurants to add space cakes to the menu. Its just about increasing profits masquerading as caring

I've been to Denver three times in the past six weeks on business.

Place has absolutely gone to hell. Used to love that city. Now, 14th Street is full of meandering homeless potheads smoked out of their brains.

It's not really that bad, but I suppose exaggeration is fun.

There has been some negative impact of us legalizing marijuana, and one of that has been that it's attracted a lot of folk to the state and is causing a housing boom that is inflating the cost of living like the dickens. But having seen Denver over the past 16 years, it hasn't "gone to hell". Hopefully with other states legalizing it, it will ebb the flow of people into our state. The biggest problem has been people from California and Texas moving in. But maybe we'll take some of the massive amounts of tax revenue we're generating to help out the poor and homeless.

And, to think, I turned down a job in Denver back in the late 90's. :(

If you bought a home in or around Denver in the 90's....holy **** would you have some massive equity built up.

So you can smoke weed but not cigarettes?

Never ever touched cigarettes. Never even tried one. And I rarely ever smoke weed. I prefer to bake with it or put it on pizza.
